Default Downloading ROMs for VPM tables

In my short time with Visual Pinball, I always head to ipdb.org to download ROMs for VPM tables. But on a game like Twilight Zone, there is a long list of ROMs.

ROMs: 1 MB ZIP PinMame ROMs Set (9.2)
306 KB ZIP PinMame ROMs Set (9.4h)
295 KB ZIP PinMame ROMs Set (L-2)
296 KB ZIP PinMame ROMs Set (L-4)
298 KB ZIP PinMame Romset (IFPA rules)
306 KB ZIP PinMame Romsets (9.4ch)
302 KB ZIP PinMame Romsets (H-7)

743 KB ZIP PinMame Romsets (L-1)
298 KB ZIP PinMame Romsets (L-3)
2 MB ZIP PinMame Romsets (P-4)

319 KB ZIP Revision 9.2 Game ROM [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
327 KB ZIP Revision 9.4H Game ROM (home version) [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB ROM Revision H-8 Game ROM [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
128 KB ROM Revision L-1 Sound ROM U14 [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB ROM Revision L-1 Sound ROM U15 [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB ROM Revision L-1 Sound ROM U18 [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB ROM Revision L-2 Game ROM [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
1 MB ZIP Revision L-2 Sound ROMs [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB ROM Revision L-3 Game ROM [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB ROM Revision L-4 Game ROM [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB BIN Revision P-3 Game ROM (Prototype) [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
128 KB ROM Revision P-3 Sound ROM U14 [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB ROM Revision P-3 Sound ROM U15 [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB ROM Revision P-3 Sound ROM U18 [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]
512 KB ROM Revision P-4 Game ROM (Prototype) [Williams Electronic Games, Inc.]

I've been downloading all of them, but I'd rather save a bit of space and just download the needed files.

Is there a rule of thumb on which ROM sets to download?

When you start a vpm table, there often is a option/dip switch menu first where you can chose between some settings, also which rom set to use. If it doesn't pop up automatically try F6 when the table is loaded. On TZ 7.3 there is such menu in any case. If there isn't in another table, you can open the table script and have a look for which rom is needed and/or eventually change it to your wishes/needs. You can get roms at AJ as well. I know they aren't always actual there, but there is a good chance that they work anyway. It's an alternative to get roms, because there you don't get shown all available roms, but only the needed one.

Thanks yogi, here's a link to AJ's (VPForums) downloads, they have links to roms:
http://www.vpforums.com/vptables/download/

Many of Pinball Nirvana's latest VPM Tables in the Download Section contain links to roms but they all have Links to the IPD!

Thanks guys. This is my third or fourth day with Visual Pinball and I'm learning a lot fast. As of last night, I just decided to keep AJ's open and download the rom that are linked there. Most worked fine, although there were a couple that I had to research and see what was up. One I had to download from Stern's web site. You guys seem really friendly here and I hope business picks up on this forum.
