I can see the VP side of things petering out. There have only been 4 recreations put out in the past month, all of them by Furio. The last Graywolf VP release was back in May. Shiva and jpsalas have both done a couple, but again it's been months.

The VPM side of things aren't much better. Destruk/TAB are putting things out on a more regular basis. Life has taken over PK, PD, and Scapino for the time being, and jp is taking a break.

Things certainly aren't like they used to be when I could check AJ's and IRP and they each would have 10 new tables a DAY (or so it seemed). Table authors were much more prolific in the past, and some have went to FP, sadly.

Though only about 25% of the tables have been emulated, a lack of authors and source material is leading to the "stagnation" of the emulator, and that is sad to see.

Someone get me out of this hell hole of a job I'm in and I might just have time for pinball again. Seems they threw another hurdle on my move to the maintenance division, telling me I qualified for a higher level job of the same category, not that particular job which was a lower level version and therefore I needed to take a DIFFERENT (and easier) test to qualify for that particular job (which I had to take last monday). Now they will take around 3 weeks to get the results before I can move over to my newer easier job....

In the mean time, I've pulled another back muscle and can't report it or they will try to use it against me and keep me from getting into maintenance, despite the fact it would be 100x easier on my back there. Go figure. So another doctors visit. Yet another cortizone shot, more muscle relaxants to take at night and more anti-inflammatories during the day and HOPE I can somehow make it through the next 2.5 weeks working 6 days a week without collapsing.... horrible situation. After moving, I'm damn well not quitting that's for sure.

I've never been a forum stat type of pinhead, IRP has a ton of dl's without membership, Pinball Nirvana has a ton of downloads as well.

Rating a site by forum participation is dumb and these forums have been on the chopping block for years, should they make registration necessary for downloads? Donate and participate is not the answer for VP, I like the Leeching profile.
:woohoo:

No tmfp, quantity is much more important to me.

I'm all about spreading VP Tables where ever i can, they can be junk and not be apprciated by other pinheads, i still love them.

ROMS??

Actually, half of the solid state games are emulated. Where are the other 400 romsets?
With such talented programmers such as yourself, Tab, and Shiva - who needs roms? :)

RE: ROMS??

It takes a lot longer, and the rules might not be perfect without roms. Roms are a real big help to get these things playing correctly.

Are you kidding? Most of the tables released nowadays are really cool and have some replayability.

You are correct, but Wrenchien and Duglis retired

I tried to get myself to work on Medieval Madness today, but then Acrobat refused to reinstall (after some program put version 3 back on the system) and that lead to even more frustrating events and so basically, I just said the hell on it and played some Jedi Academy (which promptly crashed several times.... guess my Windows install is getting fudged up).

Actually PD, I've found their latest Acrobat 7.0 screws me around, went back to version 6.0 and it works great.

I was trying to reinstall version 6. I don't think 7 has support in Win98SE at all. It gives an unknown error (id = 3) when it tries to reconstitute the installer with that fedia thing or whatever it's called (self-compressed thing they use). It won't uncompress correctly and so it won't install. I gave up. Even the old copy of the installer I had already downloaded and used successfully before gave the same error. I have no idea what the problem is.

I did download Foxit. My complaint is that its output is vastly inferior to Acrobat 6. It looks like Acrobat 3 quality (namely things look like crap until you zoom way in whereas Acrobat6 seemed to filter things so it looked good at all zoom levels. I wanted to use my 2nd monitor to show the table blueprints so I didn't have to print things out while I worked on the table in the main monitor. But the output is so poor, it's almost unuseable, IMO. I guess I'll have to print, after all.

Well, mine's also an authoring system. Since I'm a writer, I find it rather useful. Sorry 7 doesn't work on 98, Paccy.

Doesn't much matter, really. I've got version 7 for Linux. I can even run Win98 inside Linux using VMWare.... If my CPU were faster, I think I could even run VP inside VMWare (actually it does run here, but takes too long to come up and the ball moves slightly jerky despite the frame count being plenty high...probably the simulated video drivers in VMware).

Just popped back briefly. The scene seems to be ok at Pinball Originals and at VPF. There aren't too many authors but there is always a reasonable amount of discussion - as in pinball discussion. The WIP thread of my Scared stiff ran to over 20 pages, so there was healthy interest. I don't think the scene will shrink much more, it's down to the hardcore now. It's this place that's gone to the dogs and we all know why. Noone wants to hang out in a bar where people are always fighting and cursing and hardly anyone is ever barred - except the fighters and cursers themselves. The regulars leave, and new customers don't come back. Things may have stepped up disciplinary wise recently, but the damage is done now. Hate to say it, but the writing was on the wall for this place a while ago.

More VPF rants from Shockman have been moved to the junkyard, thread has been split from the point those posts began. My apologies for anyone else's posts that went with them.

So what if I rant about VPF. They can come here and lie to me and get me to jump through hoops so you all can have a big laugh at my gullibility, Fuck you. I WILL rant about VPF wherever I feel, and what better place than that in which they are welcome to come and do that for your enjoyment?

No you won't Shock, Steve has already told you what will happen with your VPF rants and you already know what will eventually happen if you don't give it up. Since the poll thread is now in the junkyard, that is where any of your abusive/VPF rants belong and will be placed if found in other threads.

Yeah 'nuts, what rule number is that? 635? Or is rule 4 just always changing at your whims, as i suspect? you are so funny sometimes. Why don't you do something useful, and helpful instead of hateful, move the rest of my poll thread back to where I was promised by a PN staffer that I could have it and post anything I wanted to it?

Or do you not think fair is fair?
