New VP9.9 Build of the 1971 Gottlieb Game 2001. Gottlieb released 2001 in February, 1971. 2001 was designed by Ed Krynski with art by Gordon Morison. Gottlieb made 2,200 of these games. Ed Krynski stated in an interview that the idea of the target bank found on 2001 was to try to make as many drop targets as possible to do the work on one solenoid. Cost savings was its inspiration. He managed to get all 10 targets on each side into a single bank.
