A collection of ball images, resize and modified to 512 by 512 in large file maximum quality jpeg format. These were done as part of my new texture set and are suitable for ball and post images, as well as any other object that uses a sphere map.
This collection contains various metal and colored ball images, as well as some textured balls like leather and glass. These images mostly come from the web, but some are modified and some are my own. As I am upgrading all my graphics, I am creating a new texture set to replace images that are 20 years old, so this is the first batch, and generally used mostly for testing purposes, but they are suitable for use in future pinball and some are good viable alternatives to the stock FP image set.
Also included is a master psd (photoshop) file containing all the images as layers so those of you who have photoshop can easily make changes, add blends, or convert them to .tga files. There are 54 ball images included. Samples in the thumbnails.
This is a small list of images I have found that work well...
Sphere (ball) Images
These are used as sphere maps generally, but for the most part, I use texture strips as opposed to ball images for posts and metal parts as sphere mapping just don't look as nice. These are the graphics I am using so far in Sorcerer, but if you have photoshop, you can modify them the way you like.
a_m_Acorn - White textured for acorns. This also makes a good texture for LED bulbs
a_ballred_01 - used for plastic posts
a_ballred_02 - glossy finish, used for Lane Guides
The other red based images are also good for posts and red plastics, its just the color of the red you want.
a_ball_bronze02 - Brackets
a_ball_damascus - reflection layers, this adds a darker tone. I generally use these for colored plastics and the splash of color
a_ball_steel - Good for brighter metal like screws, ramps
a_ball_pure - good general texture for wire forms
a_ball_yellow01 - initial texture for transparent bulbs
