I realised the other day that most of these older tables can be converted to VP9.95 with only a small change to the kicker code that creates the ball.

More complex tables might need a couple more physics adjustments to offset VP9.95's 'heavier' physics, but so far I haven't seen a problem with EM's.

Ho letto il messaggio. Ho cercato VP995 e l'ho trovato solo in Irpinball insieme ad altri programmi.Vp8 ,VP9.21, VP995 e VPX. Istallato il programma è cambiato il direct e i VPmame non funzionanono più. Bisogna riprovare con il solo VP995. Se Vp995 non cambia il direct si può usare e non sembra molto diverso da VP9.21 Se mi dici dove posso trovarlo posso provare.

Looks like VP995 is not available at IRPinball, so I've uploaded it. Only the necessary files are there. It's not an installer:

This is the final, standalone version of the VP9 series. If running older versions, drop the contents of the ZIP in to your main VP folder and overwrite existing files when asked. If you're running newer VP versions, do the same, but do not...

The reason of course for converting tables to VP9.95 instead of VP9.21 is that there are lots of fixes and updates to VP9.21, many of them that affect graphics.

The version above should not cause any problems with VPinMAME.

You will probably also want to manually change the default VP program (is that what you mean by "direct?") by right-clicking on a table, choosing "OPEN WITH" and then selecting VP9.95b amongst your VP directory. This only needs to happen once.

How is that working out, Furio?

To help with this process, I'm doing an upgrade of Ash's old "Bow and Arrow" to VP995 (with improved graphics) to see if there's any other issues to take care of besides increasing kicker strength.

So far the only direct issue I found is that the launch-lane gate blocks the ball a little bit in VP995. When I moved it a little bit, the problem disappeared.

I also lowered the slope a little. Gravity in VP995 seems a little heavier, so I think most adjustments will be of that nature.

Any other problems you've seen...?

Con il VP995 istallato riesci a giocare le tavole VPinMame? Il VP995 dovrebbe usare il Direct 9 e non il Direct7 come il VP921. Sto vedendo questi aspetti. Poi tutte le tavole VP921 (sono circa 250) dovrebbero essere giocate con VP 995. Cioè tavole funzionanti dovrebbero essere modificate (anche se di poco). L' stallazione di VP995 sarebbe senza problemi se si potesse conservare l' istallazione di VP921.

Personally I have seen no problems with different DirectX versions affecting VPinMAME, but I agree that it is best to keep different VP versions separate just in case.
