Ah, life is sweet sometimes...

Being Canadian, Hockey is in my blood, and as a former resident of that fine city (great pinball place) I am toasting my team, the Edmonton Oilers, for knocking out the best team this season, Detroit, in 6.

Hockey Town my ass. :)

The Oilers deserved to win, and now on to the Quarter finals. It was even better, as Calgary lost, so they have to play Game 7. :)

Be a hell of a series, Edmonton vs Calgary...

I don't pay much attention to the NHL until the playoffs but i must thank the Oilers for getting rid of the Red Wings.

I start to pay attention if the Sabres make the playoffs, my home town Amerks (AHL) are a feeder team for Buffalo and our triple A baseball team has been around for ages, they are the real Red Wings.

Funny fact, all 4 teams in the semi's didn't even make the playoff's last season

Oilers won yesterday, Buffalo today. 2 teams of destiny in one year?
Edmonton can take the hurricanes (if they get past the ducks) but not sure about buffalo. Be a 7 gamer that one, and more than likely overtime for the 7th.
Still, getting ahead of myself, and getting tired of my mother's comments about my playoff beard. :)

You must be more than happy now, they beat the Ducks in their place 2 straight games and are heading home for 2! I was watching a sports news show and they mentioned that the Oilers are the 1st #8 seed to win back to back series.

Sabres made it to a 7th game and lost to Carolina, I was prepared to hate Edmonton after rooting for them to face the Sabres for the Stanley Cup.....

I think any team that has "Ducks" in it, should lose every game, even if they add "Fighting" they are only ducks and should have picked anything else, thats like a team called the mighty fish. I kinda believe that teams called the "Hurricanes" should be renamed to the Katrina's, or pick something else...

Yeap, pretty happy. Sorry about buffalo, was rooting for them, but I guess too many people were out. They will be back.

First time the Oilers have been in the finals since 1990, Carolina was in the finals 3 years ago, so I say Edmonton's due. How can you not root for the underdog, especially since they block shot's face first?

ouch. Anyway, win or lose, they were not even suppose to make the playoffs, let alone beat 3 of the hottest teams. be a great series, and both places have the LOUDESS fans. Edmonton was clocked at 110 db game 6. :)

I guess neither team has Finnish players....so it's hard for me to choose a side. But overall I think it's good for hockey's popularity in general if a team like Carolina wins. That's not exactly a traditional "hockey area"....now is it....?

Carolina has more depth in the roster....especially in the offense. But Oilers' defense looks very strong. I have access to those games via cable....lots of sports in the summer...now that the football world cup starts.

Yes....the REAL football....not the Yanks' bastardized version which rest of the world doesn't give a rat's ass about.... :D

Elton my friend....you disappoint me.....Brazil.....how "mainstream" of you to root for them. :x And risky to bet any money on them......I would never, ever bet on a team who's star player looks like a horse.

Maradonna was a low human being...a cheating bastard....and a drug addict...but he was the best football player who has ever shitted between two legs. I always thought he was no match to Pelé....but then I saw some footage from his days in the Italian league....that guy was just unbelieveable. And he won the 1986 World Cup alone.

Sorry to disappoint Kristian, but yeah, he's a first class bastard and didn't need to cheat. That's why I dislike him so.

Cannot see a Welshman supporting the mainstream European football teams (England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain) can you? except maybe the Dutch - we like them!

By the way, there's a Nike advert on the telly showing horsey above as a kid (and an adult) playing 6-a-side footy. His skills are incredible, the likes of which I have never ever seen before. :)

But football is not my bag - I like rugby, cricket and motor racing (I'm a petrolhead sorry!) to watch and golf to play.

Actually, I've just finished a round of golf. The best shot I had all morning was killing a horsefly on my left leg with a pitching wedge; just as the little bastard was about to bite. A class swing and extremely accurate. True! :) The rest of the round was unadulterated SHIT! Long game, short game, putting - all SHIT! I mean a 6 on a par 3 is shit whatever way you look at it and that was my best hole! LOL

Golf ya say Elton, play twice a week myself and I'm greenkeeper and handicapper, went around and 80 off the stick a couple of weeks back, nett 66. I'm now paying for it though, this 13 stroke handicap is a killer.
