Some good stuff there, thank you 20°.

I also want to say that in lists like these, formatting and alphabetizing helps a lot. For example, like this:

- Adobe InDesign: (create books & documents)
https://www.scribus.net/ (Scribus – Open Source Desktop Publishing)

- Adobe Illustrator: (create & edit vector images)
https://inkscape.org/ (Draw Freely | Inkscape)

- MS Office Suite: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
https://www.openoffice.org/ (Apache OpenOffice - Official Site - The Free and Open Productivity Suite)
https://www.libreoffice.org/ (Home | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft)

etc, etc...

I have updated the first post. I have forgot to add these other free legal softwares. I'm glad to have giving to the peoples links to these variety of softwares for different task you can do with. Many times i had and have many projects. Many times ive asked peoples help for some big projects and many times i had closed doors. Even there was peoples that did not care for me, even many has laugh to me; shrinking me in front of others.

I simply dont want that peoples live the nasty and sad things that ive lived. I simply care for the peoples with my heart. The list i have giving, i say into my self; these free softwares might help you progress in your projects. When many times i had closed doors. Maybe you have projects that could bring you money and food on your table. Giving you these links to those softwares, it's like for me if i bring you a better life; and i'm glad of it to be part of your lives.

I suggest that you download them all (no need to install), and put it on some external hard drive. Just in case if these softwares is not available any more online. That you create your own named directory, that have into some note like the web source url; also the description as system required and others that you want for/to identify it. Also that later versions of these softwares that could be taken out, could be not compatible with old operating system; this if you keep old OS or for friends of yours.

I just hope that it could be pinned by some admin?

These are some nice suggestions, but they're just one person's suggestions.

Best thing of all would be a group-thread of suggestions, sorted in to a comprehensive, well-formatted list. That would definitely be worth pinning IMO.

I'll need help for sorting in comprehensive way. But not gonna do it today and not gonna do it tomorrow by the time i write this message. But im open to suggestions. Ive got to say some softwares i have in the past try, some others are well known by many peoples (youtube videos/web postings/stats/etc.) As told these softwares many are known, and there are free, mostly open source, with no limits for any purpose i do think.

I think to make it best (sorting) for peoples (please correct me if i'm wrong) things that i do believe is important is:
1 - Name of the software. 2 - Official url to indicate download. 3 - Description of the software (like what it does). 4 - Minimum/Recommended System Required. 5 - If there are softwares that are required to make them work (example Microsoft Net Framework version X.X) place to download and install "offline" mostly. 6 - If some software has "offline" manuals/guides. 7 - If i do a pdf guide of the free softwares, that peoples could do printscreens so i could put images (so users view the soft) to bring some interrest. 8 - Last thing i think about is that if there are users that have some experiences with some software in the list (if the user have done some youtube videos or free guide links) to help the peoples.

Brief i'm still wanting and thinking about the good for peoples. A+

Sounds like it could be a pretty big project.

Tell you what-- if you can alphabetize and improve your list, I don't mind pinning it. We could rename it something like "20degree's list of free, useful software."

One thing I'd recommend is to group programs together where possible. For example, since there's two free versions of MS Office, keep them grouped together.

It probably wouldn't hurt to add categories, either. Graphics. Sound. File-Utility. Productivity, etc.

Thank's for your help.

Here is what i have done so far. There is really "not much" done into, it talk only about 2 softwares for now. I have created a pdf "under construction" document and post it here; so that you could simply check by curiosity. It's a good thing that i can edit my post, like that i can change the first post i have done; and put the url to this free pdf document. Like that peoples dont have to go to some posting number to view the document.

Here is the url to the pdf:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/16UuNkYm4LbXuNKiQZFCEOAJyTy9P6UbJ/view?usp=sharing (20degree_free_softwares_list.pdf)

I wonder what you think about it?

If you can do a simplified version of that in the first post, I agree to sticky the thread.

Btw, I personally wouldn't concern myself with IP rights in this case. It's only a list of software with simple notes, right?

A guide is different, because you've put much more of your personal writing, thoughts and effort in to it.

The thing is that i dont know in what order i should put the list of the first post. Brief to organise them. I think maybe to indicate after these two softwares to put the next software Scribus. Because it is a software related to writing, like OpenOffice and LibreOffice.

I think also about FreeCAD and BRL CAD as modeling softwares. "Probably" added next BforArtists software because it is also a modeling software. Maybe add Godot after because it is related to create games in 2d and 3d (related to 3d models)?

But because BforArtists that is based on Blender, i know that you can also use the software as a video making software. So maybe i should "not" associate with the CAD softwares. Maybe i should associate with ShotCut that is also a video editing software.

So you guess how i'm mixed up, to choose what software of the list i'm gonna add next; then what is the next to next softwares to add and so on?

So i would like that peoples (if they want) of the first post of softwares that ive listed, to know what softwares to add next; and to indicate what its relation as: (video editing/audio editing/modeling editing/etc.)? Like so i know to put software X on the next page, software Y on the next page, software Z on the next page. Because i want to organize it, but have difficulty to know what to put next. So i can say that i feel stuck.

---------

Why i put some terms? Well i am a very sensitive person and because i have lived so many nasty things and insecurities trough life, that i feel easy many times some anxiety, stress, fears; and lot of emotions. I almost died many years ago, because i had a high pericarditis; because of anxiety, stress, fears. It was a good thing that i have gone in the emergency at a hospital, fiew hours later i would be dead. The doc had to shoot me 3 doses directly in my self by intravenous, to relax my blood and high heart pumping because of the stress and anxiety.

With all the things that happen with the pandemic, i'm very stressed and have lots of anxieties. I try to stay calm, but it's real hard for me for many reasons, like some news and others. So i try to change my ideas and do good things; but it's real hard.

Still i keep my heart for the peoples, if i pass away; hope that the peoples wont forget me trough time? Like my free pdf guides i have made for the peoples for helping them. The times i have done volunteering, for some health organism; that they have done some events to have funds for health research. Like for cancer, multiple sclerosis and others. Thinking that my living time i have taken, even if its only fiew hours could save in my mind peoples lives; this because of health organism that share there knowledges trough the world for good things. Also because of the generations that come because of new born's. I have my strength, have my weakness, i'm not perfect; i still want good things for the peoples.

Thanks for letting me know how it is 20°. That certainly sounds like a lot to handle!

You know I'm anxious and hypersensitive myself (literally super-sensitive to noise, smell and touch, while having awful eyesight, haha). But yeah, also with social phobia since I was a young tadpole. Fortunately, as I've gotten older and worked on the issues, spent more time interacting with assholes human beings, this stuff doesn't bother me quite so much. :-)

But yeah, for sure the pandemic has been super-stressful for so many people. Please take care of yourself, friend.

Re: the disclaimers and stuff,
Okay, I understand a little better. Maybe you could keep the 'legal language' in your PDF, but only mention them briefly in your first post?

Re: how to categorise things,
I'd say use your best judgement and let me take a look. And like I say, sorting by category is usually helpful.

Understand also that contrary to the past, there are lots of lists like this available these days, so IMO it's not worth knocking yourself out too much with this stuff. But I can help with formatting a bit, and we'll see how it goes.

Oh, and happy new year. :orcbeer:

Just letting know that i have updated the "still under construction" pdf guide. The url to the guide as the post number 8 is the same. I have simply replaced the file with the new one. I have added 7 other free softwares in the list. Most of the text descriptions into, are text that come from there website. i'm not ready to edit my first post, to put the url link to the guide; because it is not completed.
