The kids came up for the weekend. :D

They cooked me a nice roast, and then we went out to the movies. (Indiana Jones)
When we got home they said ‘and now here is your present!’


A mobile phone

I had taken great pride in the fact that I did not have a mobile phone, my little protest to the march of technology I suppose.

Only took 90 minutes this morning to get the darn thing running

LOL, I don't have or want a cell phone either. My wife has one and her old one sits in a drawer, because I don't want people to be able to reach me at all times. :)

My daughter and I have a running joke when it's about something we don't want.... We always say we want two of them or could you get me two of them (meaning the item we're talking about) For example, if you were wearing a goofy red hat, I would ask you where you got it, then I'd ask you if you could get me one, then I'd say, could you get me two of them. You'd say, why do you want two of them.... I say, one to crap on and one to cover it up with. :) I've done this with my daughter so many times (she's 31) that she now tells me (if I ask her for something) that maybe she should get me "two" of them.

Had to get one when the kid moved in last year. Find them good and bad. My friends can get in touch with me now, but then so can my ex wife. :)

Just broke down and finally got a LCD widescreen for the computer last week. Not too bad, but I made sure I got the best one for my price range.

Modern technology doesn't mean it's easier though. Still can't get my Zoom G1 effects pedal to work without reading the manual for 1/2 hour first.

I have two cellphones, but they are both sitting in the drawer too. An old Sony-Ericsson T68i (well, actually its still the original Ericsson T68 from before the takeover but equipped with a Sony frontcover and the updated software), and some grey one which is still brandnew, cant think of the brand right now. (Alcatel something?)

The last cellphone that i bought and regularly used was a Nokia 7650, one ugly piece of communication-ware with the look of a soapbox that cost a pretty penny back then, but it had a very big screen which was cool for games, so i kind of thought i must have it. (BTW, something like this with MAME on to be able to play Phoenix, Galaxian, Pooyan etcetera right out of the pocket is still a dream of mine.) Eventually i got tired of carrying such a big honking thing around and gave it to my cousin, and i didnt buy a new one ever since. Im taking the T68 with me sometimes though, because it has a few nice games on it too. Some Qix and some Defender clone for instance, which is good enough to waste some time in a waiting room. But neither do i have a card contract nor do i buy any prepaid SIM cards anymore,...you know, 'dont call me, i call you'. (If i want to.) It really got on my nerves getting tenthousand calls and SMS from people i dont even know each day, (all advertising crap, of course), so being from a generation that can perfectly survive without a pocket-phone, (luckily), i simply put an end to this by stopping to use it. And i cant say i miss it,...

I have never owned one and feel exceptionally free, I'm loving every minute of life! I saw a fight break out in a restaurant when they were introduced to the masses, this dude smashed a salad bowl into a mobile phone user's face and it seemed ok to me..

It still seems ok to me, under the right circumstances...
