We've been discussing some music lately and I use the fantastic jukebox program by Chris (Fight Night) I thought I already had a thread here about this, but I couldn't find it in a search, it must have been at VPF.

I got a new skin for the Jukebox and I'm using it for 60's and 70's music. The only thing I modded was the label for the songs and the neon looking light. I may add some buttons in the future. I almost bought a touch screen monitor just to use for this program.

Here's my DooWop jukebox.... I modded this one extensively and added extra buttons. These buttons can be pushed (animated) with the mouse or the keyboard, you can also use a touchscreen to select the music or turn volumn Up or Down or scroll through all the available pages of music

You can have 1000's of songs and point to multiple files or folders. Great stuff. He designed it for MAME cabinets.

Cool stuff.

In case you take suggestions, how about a really phat wicked teckno-box?

There are quite a few skins for the jukebox, sort of like VP tables, there are widescreen and 4x3 resolutions, you just have to search for them. Here's a page of them.

Here's a cool one, pictured on a widescreen TV.

Bob, Thanks for the link on this great jukebox program. I had not previously heard of it. I really like the extra buttons that you've added to this skin and I was wondering if you'd mind sharing? It's not widescreen, but I think it'll look just fine on my w/s monitor.

I just see this thread is in the Playfield.

Would you mind if i moved it to the Software forum, Bob?

Phoenixx, you can move the thread anywhere, it is a cool program and the author is Chris, who has created a few VP tables.

mwcrain, I'm attaching the zipfile for that skin in this post, the graphics and stuff would work, but the ini file is from version 3.0, if that matters, you may need to make an adjustment. The skn file goes with the other skin files.

Let me know if you have any problems, it took me a couple of days to sort everything out, but I'm not very techy.

I got a PM asking for help from clyde to get it running, but I would prefer to help him in the forums as it may then help someone else.....

There are two files named "Jukebox" in the main folder and the JUKEBOX.INI file is the file named "Jukebox" that is not a SKN file. You open this file to make changes and to set the path to your mp3's

Here is what you would look for in the INI file.

-----------------------------------------------------
[Index]

# SongPath sets the folder(s) in which to look for music.
# By default, subdirectories under the current folder are
# searched; to search a different folder, set SongPath to
# the folder to search. Additional folders may be
# specified as SongPath1, SongPath2, etc.
# You may specify the root folder of removable media; songs
# on that media will only be used when the media is in the
# drive.
#
# Note: The two paths below are examples; if you edit them
# to match your configuration, make sure you remove the #
# symbol at the beginning of the line.

SongPath1 = C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\My Music
#SongPath2 = D:\

--------------------------

In the above songpath, the jukebox will display every mp3 file you have in your music folder on your jukebox. You can also have multiple paths. In the example below, there are 2 Songpaths displayed, so it will display all the songs in those 2 files on your Jukebox. Your songs can be anywhere on your pc, you just have to set the right path to them.

SongPath1 = C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\My Music\Beatles

SongPath2 = C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\My Music\Kinks

The "#" symbol in front of the text, makes the program ignore the text after it, it is just information for the user or a Remark statement.

Let me now if you need more help. There are also a bunch of HTML Document files and these are all "help" files to do everything.

mwcrain, I may have changed the control file also, it is for which key to press, I think it is self explanatory, but let me know if you need it.

I have a boxed set of Buddy Holly on vinyl records, but I downloaded these from the site below, just search for Buddy Holly. I downloaded the 50 greatest hits. :)

Thanks Bob. Everything works great. I just used my old ini file and added WoodCabbox as another skin. I was previously using the widescreen Wurly skin so now I can easily switch back & forth between the two. I'm assuming you set up seperate program folders with different ini files which link to different music folder paths (and different skins) so that depending upon what type of music you're interested in listening to you can just select the corresponding jukebox. I might try that in the future. I really like the extra buttons that you've added to this skin. Thanks again for sharing! :salut:

I copy the entire jukebox folder and name it something different (like JukeBox DooWop) and then only use a song path to (DooWop music.) I have several shortcuts on my desktop to the jukebox, this makes a nice way for me to control what music is selected to play by quests and it's easy for my wife, as she can just click on a shortcut and get a jukebox with 750 Barry Manilow songs on it.

I don't have a MAME cabinet or Pinball cabinet, so most of the time, I just use Winamp to play music, it is really nice.

I think a friend of mine used to have that vinyl boxed set. I drooled over it often.
Wow! I found the "Chirping Crickets" album on that site! I once had that on cassette sometime back in the Dark Ages! Thanks so much for pointing me to that site, Bob!

Bob, where did you find the skin from your first post. That is a great looking skin! :rockon:

Beware going to the main jukebox site, though. Either from visiting it or opening the downloaded jukebox, an irritating trojan popped up on my computer disguised as an Adobe file. It starts continually scanning your computer for "Spyware" with endless pop-up notices in the tray. Or maybe it was just me.

I downloaded the latest version of the program, a few skins, and a soundpack with no problems at all. And I just used McAfee's SiteAdvisor to check it out. The results are here: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/dwjukebox.com/downloads/

Can anyone upload these files to a working server please? Cheers

Bob still passes by here, sometimes. You could start by messaging or tagging him.

Might also try Archive.Org.

Might also try a google, as it's likely this stuff is uploaded to other sites, too.
