Well...traded my 2 months old Omega Planet Ocean to this one. Preowned Rolex GMT Master "Pepsi", 80'S model... one of my biggest favourites. I always wanted this watch... these vintages move in around $1700 - $2000 on Ebay so this was a good deal. Preowned Omega PO is worth around $1500.... This comes with papers & boxes and original Rolex guarantee...and it's in great condition....for being an old watch....the bezel insert (red/blue) has been changed....everything else is original.

This is my friend John Holbrook's review of the watch (if anyone's interested). I'm one of the moderators in his watch forum...

Actually it's the newer model GMT Master II but Rolex makes virtually zero changes to their models, even after decades....

I know most of you guy's couldn't give a rat's ass about watches but I love collecting them. I've owned plenty but I only have 3 left... Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch, Ebel 1911 Chronograph and now this...

Here's my girlfriend posing with it. She knows ZERO about watches but likes the ring that I bought her just recently. ;)

Congratulations. Looks at least a step or two up from the Timex I used to have. :p I have a weird allergy against metals so I can't ever wear a watch, but I can admire them from afar. I did have a plastic pocket watch I could use but it wore out and I've never found another one like it.

John....you could buy a titanium watch. I believe those don't bother people with nickel allergies.

Or a plastic Casio G-Shock. :D

Nice watch....can we hear more about your girlfriend?

Seriously, I appreciate peoples collections, I collect CD's. Some of them very rare bootlegs and extremely hard to find albums. My girlfriend doesn't really understand why I would pay 100.00 for a CD...ah well.

My girlfriend.....25......very beautiful......I'm not going to post her face.....you know.....lots of weirdos like Neptune here....this ain't no place for a lady anyway....

I also collect bootleg recordings. I have hundreds of Rush, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews Band, etc. live recordings....some of them are soundboard versions....excellent quality. Those are my 4 all-time favourite bands by the way....

I used to collect bootlegs back when they were sold under the table at record shops and came in a plain record cover with a photocopied sheet slipped inbetween the plastic and the plain cover. Needless to say these were records (you know 12" vinyl). I have a heap of Pink Floyd bootlegs from all those years ago, haven't played them much in years. Also a couple of Jethro Tull and I think a Genesis one unless I gave that away.

I have recently discovered BitTorrent, wow are there ever a lot of bootlegs out there. These things used to be rare and hard to get, now it seems you can just download them all over the place. Heaps of U2 which I like, lots of bands, it's unreal. Wasting lots of bandwidth on this lately!

DS

Yep....BitTorrent is my choice as well....EMule is a good source....

And besides....bands like Rush, Pink Floyd and Genesis don't give a crap about fans trading bootlegs...they have toured for decades and they could literally swim in money..... DMB, Grateful Dead and Phish even distibute them for free!!!!

It's also nice to see U2 don't care as I've been a fan since Boy came out.

Don't know if the Rolling Stones care (probably do) but there's plenty of Stones stuff out there which I like.

Metallica cares....they have cash registers where their hearts ought to be.....

I stopped caring about Metallica...when the black album came out...Lars Ulrich is a sissyboy....and the worst hard rock drummer who has ever shitted between two legs... :rip: :drummer: :jester:

Nice watch. I have collected many things over the years.... Comics, action figures, coins and tokens, nonsport cards, playing cards, music, moneyclips and maybe a few other things, but the real thrill of collecting is the hunt. I use to like going to flea markets and trade shows with my wife, but nowadays, with eBay, the stuff is just a mouse click away and this is just too easy and has taken the thrill out of the hunt. I also don't really have much room for storing anymore crap as my full basement looks more like a warehouse. Hobbies are great and if one has enough hobbies, when it comes time to retire from their job, they'll be able to adapt and fill their days with something besides boredom and TV. I've seen quite a few old guys retire and just become lost as they never learned how to enjoy their "me" time. Being a bum (as far as the IRS is concerned) most of my life has taught me how to enjoy myself and my free time :rasta:

oh yea, I have hundreds of different beer cans too :)

Egay is also full of scammers. There's tons of FAKES of Omega, Rolex and other big name brands. Sometimes the scammers use pictures of the genuine watch and ship Chinese junk. I've heard lots of horror stories... I never, ever buy anything valuable from Egay unless the seller has very high feedback and good history...

Here's a good example of a HORRIBLE fake junk GMT Master... this POS was sold as genuine on Egay!!!!! Poor buyer... I hope he was blind at least...
