Before my laptop's drive got borked and subsequently caused the loss of my VPX setup and tables i had a VPX table of Fire! by Williams; the only problem is is that it was on Vpinball before that site got nuked and can't find it anywhere? I checked all the usual places and all came up empty. Would anyone happen to have it and wouldn't mind sending me a copy of it? Thank you very much and have a wonderful day

-Michael

Maybe you could find your table on the website of: pinsimdb.org There is many tables there and many versions of many tables. What i suggest is that you do some backups on some external usb drive or usb key drive. Brief on some external support. So like that if something goes wrong, you can always recover. Also it is a good thing to do many copies on many external drives and/or supports. Maybe even burn on some cd-rom/dvd/bluray disc your data if you have such support.

A+

He said VPX, so it's obviously not going to be at the PSDB.

Sorry if I'm being harsh, but I wish you could pay a little more attention in future before hitting the "REPLY" button.

I know you're just trying to be helpful, and that's good. But from what I've seen, this is about the third time in a week that you've replied to someone with information that doesn't really address the issue. More attentive reading & understanding of what was going could have helped in these cases, frankly.

@BlkSbth1970,
You don't mention the author, but there's an archived VPX version here that might or might not be the one you're looking for.

I believe the main Author of VPX Fire! table is Randr from VPinball.
The table Ike linked is the FSS version of it. Made for FS single screen.
Here is v1.0 and v2.0 regular versions.

Let me know when you have downloaded them so I can delete the link.

Honestly, at this point I don't think RandR will be coming back to the VP scene... so re-posting a table he posted should not be a big deal for the time being. If RandR has a problem with them being posted... then he can come on any of the forums to let us know. I think it's silly to just go on forever letting tables like this or MOTU / JAWS,etc on VPX go into oblivion if he isn't interested in the hobby anymore.

I think that DJRobX was a big contributor to that table as well, so maybe he could re-post it. Heck someone can just do a quick mod of tables like this and just repost it anyway.

As far as I know RandR was not against mods of tables he posted.

When it comes to these types of situtions I like to tread lightly.
Some Authors flip out when you upload their tables to certain sites.
Others have no problem with it.
It would be nice to preserve all the tables currently missing since the VPinball site shutdown catastrophy though.

My own personal opinion... and I speak only for myself...

...if someone "is done" with the hobby and just up and leaves and gives absolutely no contact or responses to anyone... including those of us who helped a lot with VPinball / were Moderators / uploaded a lot of content and Tutorials, etc (some which has been lost forever, myself as an example)...

...then anyone like that can't exactly get upset if they are gone and won't respond to "anyone". If someone doesn't want stuff reposted... then they can get off their ass and come on to the forums on any of the multiple VP sites and let us know their feelings. If they can't be bothered to do that or respond to messages sent to them asking about this... then what does it matter anyways.

As long as there has been due diligence to make contact.... and there has been no response to anyone to make things clear. then to me that sends a message that they don't care either way... have moved on... or possible may have passed away at some point (this has happened before).

Just my opinion of course.

Thanks for posting the additional versions, Charles. I'll check it out, and if it seems like something others would be interested in, will go ahead with contacting @randr and @djrobx at various places about sharing. Table-preservation is one of my long-term projects, after all.

Also, the idea that RandR was okay with mods not needing permission (if indeed true) would seem to suggest that he's okay with sharing his work, no? If not, let's just say that a mystery pixel got changed, somewhere. :p

Well, if you're sure that RandR allowed all mods, maybe just go ahead and upload these here?

Otherwise, I'll do it the slower way...

I am not sure, so go ahead and traditional way it.

I'd ask DJRobX in respect to this table. Maybe he would want to repost it or update, it, etc.

Thanks for checking!

Yes, please feel free to upload it here! And it is free to mod as well. All I ask is that you retain the credits of all the people who put their hard work into the current and earlier versions. Cheers!

Thanks djrobx!!
There is no info on any authors inside table. All info is blank.
There was no text file included so no info there either.
Besides you and jason (Randr), are there any others who helped on this table?

Yes, lots!

Thanks to:

Wrd1972 and Bord: Both of them have relentlessly worked to make 2.0 an amazing update! My hat is off to them. They went way above and beyond on this project and can't thank them enough.

UncleWilly and Randr for their amazing VP9 original, and Randr for guidance on that left lock behavior.

32Assassin for his VPX rebuild of the script and table. HauntFreaks for color-correcting sling areas so they light up properly. RustyCardores for PMD™ input. VPX team for the wonderful engine. NFozzy/Ninuzzu for fast flipper and ball shadow routines Flupper for primitive flippers

Holey Mackeroley!!
And this is a good reason to include text files with all the info with table package!!

Yah, I'm very big on adding all credits to the table script at a minimum (not just adding them on the Upload post description)... so maybe just add all of what Rob posted to the script at the top.

For original tables (not this one), I also like to add credits to the DMD / text on the table as well when possible (and I've done this on tables I've modded before when neither was added to the table originally).

I am the same.
I leave credits for everyone who has worked on table, and I leave link to original table, and I tell them If they like my table mod, they should direct their thanks to the original authors, as I have only made few changes.

RustyCardores for PMD™ input

Wow... that's going back... haven't seen PMD mentioned for a long time.

For those wondering.... PMD was the original name for SSF (surround sound feedback).... as back then it was considered "poor man's feedback" (PMD).

PMD = Poor Man's DOF

Yeah, I had to go to the Wayback machine to pull up the copy from vpinball. I only shared it there because it was a mod of a table RandR was involved in, but now that that's gone there's absolutely no reason not to share it elsewhere.

Umm, so... any idea how Jason's doing these days? (RandR)

He put relentless work in to the scene, and now...

All good things come to an end. He shared a youtube video a few weeks prior to taking the site down, and he talked about having had no interest in playing his vpin in a long time. People burn out. It happens.
