new to FP...coin insert issue

I am new to future pinball. I have a problem that is maddeningly simple. I can start and run FP just fine the table is rendered fine but it doesn't seem to accept a coin when the 5 is pressed or start when the 1 is pressed. what am i missing here, any help would be appreciated.
 
You can configure the buttons in the preferences... Gamekeys menu in the editor. I hope that helps.

Thanks to anyone who viewed and submitted info..it appears that this was a bad install I removed and reinstalled and the problem corrected itself :rockon:
