Is they anyway to retain the correct dimensions of the table using a wide screen monitor in full screen mode in visual pinball. The tables appear stretched out horizontally when i do this. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks again guys

Maybe a stupid question, but did you try setting a 4:3 resolution in VP?

(640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960, 1600x1200, etc.)

There would of course be small black bars on the sides but the table should no longer be stretched then,...

Duh, thanks that helped. I got my first widescreen monitor recently and I am still learning the basics.

Glad i could help.

(BTW, i really hate widescreen monitors. Most stuff is optimized for 4:3 whereas movies are usually in 16:9. So why do they make 16:10 displays? With TFTs this means one of two things; either your source gets distorted or you have to switch away from the panels native resolution which means the picture has to be interpolated and thus decreased in quality. Both options are obviously flawed, hence i think they should be making displays with 1600x1200 or 1800x1350 or 2048x1536 for 4:3 resolutions or 1680x954 or 2048x1152 for 16:9 resolutions if it has to be widescreen. At least then the monitor can be used in its native resolution, which means there will be no quality loss and no source distortions either.)

[Sorry for the rant.]

Agreed! I was looking for a larger monitor for my MAME cabinet last year and it seems everything 19" and bigger is only in widescreen :(

there are some 21Zoll availiable like LCD NEC 2180UX in 4:3 aspect ratio

I normally play VP games in a window to compensate the stretchy effect. The 4:3 resolutions don't seem to work on my monitor. Why isn't VP compatible with widescreen? This is one of the reasons why I favour FP over VP.
