Should fucking idiots be allowed at VPF?

The title says it all. I mean some people seem hell bent on destroying what's left of any hope of VP ever being updated. They come in after being absent for ages and then tell everyone what to think and libel authors and companies left and right and take 200 pages to do it. I say such people should go back to kissing Black's ass and stay the fuck away from VP before they do some real harm there.

I just wish the staff at VPF would get some balls and do something about such shit instead of letting them piss off the ONLY chance we have to get an updated version of VP with fixed reels, improved physics, etc.

if you mean rob046, we didn't receive any reported posts and i only read his comments by chance the other day. no idea if any of the three other staffmembers even saw what he wrote.

as for what he wrote- i'm like you, it pissed me off, but so many people came down against him the overall effect seemed to be a public boost for UC, not the other way around. at least that's the impression i got from bmath- he seemed to be almost laughing at rob altho he was very very polite.

as for randy, it seems like almost the same thing. it was a general vote of confidence for VP altho it did remind him that people are still waiting. that might be a good thing, altho whether randy gets negative or positive motivation from anything anyone says in the VP scene has always been extremely hard to tell.

but personally i think it's high time randy got a little friendly pressure put on him to share the wealth. the authors, the VPM team and all the other members who have helped promote and advance VP made it possible for randy to get the sale he did with the UC people. we owe him but he also owes us.

Rob gave his opinion, and the staff did not agree with it OR like it. So yes, he should be banned, killed, sent a virus, or something, for sure.

Randy owes nothing to anyone, and if I was Randy, I would give nothing to anyone. Who do you people think you are?

Rob didn't post anything new, many people originally posted those thoughts. I always thought Foley was a quick buck artist and I still feel that way. The new guys from UltraPin seem a little more straight forward, but I think most of us realize it's not really any of our business. I still see the humor in the fact that so many VP'ers got the $ fever from Foley and started pushing their tables in front of him or started creating tables that he might be interested in.

I agree with Nic that the community kept VP alive, with donations and authors making tables, without the community, VP would have been dead a couple of years ago. The community in conjunction with Randy Davis are responsable for the UltraPin/Ultracade project. I think Randy Davis owes the community a word of thanks and if you don't agree with that assessment, you can go have sex with yourself.

Shockman, you're still an idiot. Check out the new MMPM released at VPF, I think they stole your work!!!

lol...stole shockman's work? Gaston said we could use his lamp code for the maze, the graphics were done by TAB and I'm sure he can provide you with the progression of the table with a slideshow of images. BTribble provided some extra images that were used in shockman's table, but I don't think we used those. In any case, ours has a working credit lamp, and shockman might want to update his table so it's correct. I think idiots should be allowed at vpf - they give us someone to fight with.

Why should I check it out? Is it better? I don't care how much of it they borrowed, or stole, that's how you learn.. If it looks better I'll play it instead. Can't say I would be chomping at the bit if the best thing you can say about it is that it has a working credit light though..

Well I think we have to remember that noone's paid for VP and with any free program, there are no guarantees that come with free software...

Heck, let's be honest, the majority of people involved with pinball emulation are in it for free games, not preservation, not nostaligia, not a love of pinball, but for free stuff...

If you don't believe me, look at the forums and see how many members there are compared to posts, how many downloads compared to thanking/helping authors, hell one member whined that a table wasn't done by PacDude, boo fucking hoo, you got a solid "just 3 yr old table for free" and now you're whining because it wasn't done by the "best" author...gimmee a fucking break, take your free table and just be happy you have one to play...

Hell theres tables I wish PacDude or others would work on, but I'm not going to piss on an author who does the work, I appreciate free tables period, I'm not so spoiled as to demand "specific" authors do "specific" tables...

It was SO nice when he was off in Black's "Me Me Me; Me Too!" land and not telling us all how to think. But I see thus far all 5 other posters on PN here think the more Rob the better. So WTF do I know.

UltraPin doesn't give a shit about releasing an update to VP, that is entirely my opinion and it's based on common sense. If you really believe what you just posted, why would you have given Black such flak when he was involved with VP?

Does anyone know of a free registry repair program? They all say they are but fix 10 to 50 problems only then you have to pay 10 to 30 dollars. (the liars). I have just over one thousand errors. 7 plus years worth.

Why? Because Black was and IS a dick. I couldn't give a shit what he does. His work on VP was minor and total shit in terms of working without getting machine dependent graphic related bugs (not unlike FP to some degree, really).

I agree Randy is a dick too at this point. Sorry, but it's true. He's holding up VP being improved even more than Black. An improved version has been handed to him on a silver platter and he could be a Jukebox Hero by just RELEASING it! He chooses not to do so because he doesn't give a flying shit one way or the other anymore about the very community he helped to create.

Now Ultrapin here WANTS to improve VP (sure for their own uses), but they want to maintain good relations with us as we can help each other out. If Randy would just allow them to release what they work on, this problem wouldn't exist.

Now how do I know they even made such a version? I've got it. Now if you go and piss them off really good, do you think they're going to give a shit about scratching our back anymore? I wouldn't. I'd tell you all to go fuck off, release my commercial stuff that's aimed at a squarely different market and let the shit hit the fan. That's how I treat ingrates. And people like Rob come off as a wise-ass know-it-all KING of the INGRATES, especially when they're talking squarely out their ass about something they CLEARLY have not read all the details about. Just look at his blunder with the whole viewing angle (who makes it) routine in regards to Kurt's tables. It's like DUH! Big fucking surprise there Rob. You're a fucking retard. Thanks Steve. I got VPM working today. Still no e-mail, but I could get comcast to hook me up again. There is still a lot wrong with my system and I still may need to reformat or get a new one. The crap cleaner is good for what it is, thanks again, and I think I'll keep it around but it's not what I really needed. I spent hours in the registry today with a lot of trial and error and was able to get permission to delete the VPM entries.

I use Easy Cleaner on a regular basis for cleaning out the crud that accumulates and repairing stuff. So you may want to give this a go also

I don't feel as bad as most would think. I got this systen in 2000 or 2001 and the first thing I did was turn off system restore. I did have one crash, but that was my fault. And though I lost everything on my computer then, it was no big deal. It out performs new celerons at 3 times the clock speed and p4's too if not built well.
System restore will be turned of on my next system as well if I can tell any difference in performance.

All my stuff is still on my drive, but it's like someone erased the OS and then reinstalled it new. The files are setting there, unregistered.

Randy, on the other hand, I don't know. How happy should he make you? How often? He said years ago that VP is finished, not a WIP, sure, he said I would look into things about it again, and he has. You know it has very little to bitch about, and less that could not be worked around. It is not Randy's (or Black's) fault that the dozer in RS has 4 frames of animation, for example, that was your choice. What other problems do you need fixed? the ball through things? would that make it better, or just the same without balls through the things? The high guy said he wanted real flippers moving, and motion blur (as if things in motion blur, but you would have to program it to see it on a monitor) I don't know if I would like UC's version anyway.

I never read where Randy said VP was finished.... I thought he just quit posting. When he returned to fix the sp2 problems, he acted like a robot, he only responded to Mitchell, which I found highly amusing and unfreakinbelievable.

The whole hobby is a joke with people like AJ, Randy, Black and I could go on, but I always liked a good joke anyway.
