The colors of noise.

just something i'm downloading for my trip to put on my MP3 player. a few years back i discovered these sounds... quite useful for masking out the outside world when you want to relax or sleep or whatever. not unlike those 'sounds of nature' collections, also meant to help you relax.

well, there are many noise colors- white, pink, brown, purple, blue, green, grey, orange, etc. personally i like brown because it reminds me of a waterfall. for you trivia buffs, brown is named not for the color, but for the discoverer of brownian motion.

Gee, I don't know Nic. Listening to test patterns like white noise for extended lengths of time can cause temporary deafness, not total deafness, but the hearing will go fuzzy.

I think I'd rather listen to light pop.

the thing is to experiment. when you have urban noise going on around you, sometimes trying to overcome it with music may not work out. or maybe it works for some people and not others. listening to noise works pretty well for me when trying to go to sleep, but i must confess i never listened to it for extended lengths of time.

sounds can apparently cancel other sounds out based on the characteristics of their waveforms... along the lines of a mathematical equation being balanced. in various museums, i've heard about exhibits in which a speaker on one end of a room is making a certain loud noise and a speaker on the other end of the room is making some other noise, and if you stand close to their intersection you will hear close to nothing.

it must be me but that noise bothered me it's annoying enough I had to shut it off. sorry i guess I like nature more like waves and such. that 'buzz' is just that.
