I'm a tune rocker and I couldn't find No Myth by Michael Penn, only covers. Does anyone else know this song?
I did find this. Hadn't heard it before and I like it too. If you like this, then you owe it to yourself to find No Myth, but make sure it's Michael Penn's version and not a cover.

Hmm, I guess embedding for this video is disabled?

Your link doesnt work sleepy.

As for music being an age thing, this will probably always be so. Elvis Presley makes me cringe for the most part (and so does most of todays 'music') but then i think the same goes for Bob and my music. Personally i have always been a huge fan of analog synthesizer sounds, and believe it or not, this is one reason why i started to love pinball machines back then. The backgroundnoise of FirePower is music to my ears and so are many of the other raw synth sounds the machines had at that time. Kraftwerk is to me what Beethoven and Mozart are to a Classics fan, and the tracks i linked were part of probably THE greatest time in my life, namely my WavePunk time when i used to wear black and pointed shoes with silver buckles and outrageous hairdos, etcetera. This scene was simply great in every regard and having had to witness its slow dissolution is still one of the sadest things to me. We had such an unbelievably great time,...

I would love to see a couple of pictures.... Please?
I had a feeling you would say that. :color:

And i would post some if i still had any. But this was over 20 years ago, we rarely had a camera to take any pix, and the few pix that i did have got lost over the course of several moves.

But i know who might still have some. Next time i visit them i will ask,...

Music is a question of age? I can't confirm that. I'm basically open for all new music. I continuously find new stuff to listen to. Anyway there's also much 'crap'.

Sometimes, maybe a very few times a year, I like to listen to prefered music from younger years. I don't exactly dislike it now, but taste in music has changed several times over the many last years. It's more a funny rememberance.

Here's a song you could like. I still have to find out how to embed videos.

Heres another of the best tracks from back then.

Americans seem to call this 'Goth', we used to call it Wave or NewWave or WavePunk. (Hence the thread title.)

Great live performance,...this time with a little more guitar over the synthies,...

One of Kraftwerks best ElectroTrax.

The first clip is not the original LP version, its a later remix. Already Stereo.

The second one is the (massively) shortened single ('45) version of the original 16-minutes version from the Electric Café LP. Mono, but you can click HQ for Stereo! Also one of the most remarkable music videos ever, especially when you consider the time when this was made.

The third clip is one of the countless live versions. Also in Stereo.

To skip the boring 'Boing-Bumm-Tschack' intro in the second clip, fast-forward to 1:12. The two tracks arent seperated by any space on the LP so they are kept together most of the times.

Und wer könnte Die Roboter vergessen.

The showmaster in this clip has a hard time specifying the genre, and who could blame him, after all Kraftwerk were quite simply the guys who invented that kind of ElectroTunes. He finally ends up calling it 'ScienceFiction Music' or 'Electronic Rock'. At the end of the clip he points out that they have played on self-built instruments. (Quite obvious when you look at the aluminum-foil drumkit.) No DX7s at that time,...

Sometimes you dont see the forest for the trees.

Here ive been looking desperately for a High Quality version of the Musique NonStop video, just to find out that i have already found it. All you need to do is start the video (the second one of the three versions i posted above) and then press HQ!

And quite frankly this must probably be THE best quality MP3 i have ever heard to date. Obviously a vinyl recording it should give everyone a fairly decent idea what an absolutely awesome atmosphere this track creates in the room when you play the LP over a hi-end stereo. (Or real good headphones if you prefer that.) Even played over my little Teufel Concept E system the sound is outstanding, in fact even over my real small desktop speakers it still sounds great and these things dont even have a subwoofer. Impressive is an understatement,...if you have the means to hook up your PC to your stereo then by all means give it a shot, if only to enjoy the atmosphere of the amazing echo, hall and stereo effects,...

As for Hendrix, the guy sure knew his way around a guitar didnt he? Admittedly not exactly my style, but i do like ACϟDC and some other guitar-heavy stuff like certain Hardrock, Metal and especially Punk tracks,...

The link for Michael Penn's Try on youtube works here, though you have to click it. Maybe there's a regional block?

Ive just found an excellent copy of the Musique NonStop 16m25s original Electric Café LP-Version on one of my older HDDs. This version is the whole opera with all the different languages and effect parts, not just a super-shortened snippet like in the video above.

Format is uncompressed 44100Hz PCM-Audio (.WAV) with a bitrate of a whopping 2822 kBit/s. I believe this was a straight track-copy from the CD, (it was definitely not a vinyl recording), which means quality-wise it is the proverbial 'top of the hill'. (As far as digital goes.) I would gladly share it with everyone who is interested, only problem is the filesize. Perfect quality has its price, the track is 331MBs large. Even 7zipped it is still 147 MBs large, which means even with Jons ultra-generous filesize limits for archives i would still have to split it in two parts to attach it here.

Since this is quite a lot of drivespace and bandwidth we are talking about i think it would be appropriate to ask Jon first. (Jon, if you read this; is it O.K. with you?) If he says yes i will upload it asap. I also have a PCM WAV of the entire Electric Café LP, (english version, format 44100Hz @ 1411kBit/s), that i could share if Jon is O.K. with it. BTW, i myself would love to get my hands on a HighBitrate PCM WAV of TransEuropaExpress since i seem to have lost my copy,...

Just discovered that the Embedding disabled by request message is in the linked video.

Added a Music category in the Videos section.
Feel free to add any videos, it's very easy, see this post:

I wonder, am i the only one having problems with the AutoEmbedding-via-URL feature?

The thing is, whenever i paste only the URL of a clip into a post, i always end up with a clickable link instead of a player window.

When i use the 'embedding' code provided with the clip the player window appears as it should, though.

Obviously the URL method does work fine for other people though. Any idea why it doesnt work for me?

Browser is FF 3.0.10, in case it matters,...

Use 'insert link' and it usually works. Only the AC/DC video didn't work that way, but then the embedding code from youtube didn't work as well (FF 3.0.10).

ah, jon... i love that track "angel" by hendrix. it took me a long time to discover that one and this one:
YouTube - Castles Made of Sand- jimi hendrix

bob, if you're still reading, i love this elvis song (below) and like how this cool video stitches several different versions together. takes me back to when i was around 24 in 1990... i fell in love with 50's tunes for a solid year or two. people my age thought i was crazy humming franki valli all day... but they had a good laugh when i jumped on a table top at the QVC company picnic and started dancing to dion's "the wanderer". (btw there was also a classic gang movie set in the 50's called "the wanderers")
YouTube - Elvis Presley - Love Me - Video Mix

this is a lovely hawaiin tune that arne introduced me to a year or two ago:
YouTube - Hapa - Ka Ulu Wehi O Ke Kai

a lounge music tune, for those who like this relaxing subgenre (i do):
YouTube - White Magic

one more for you, bob (maybe). no doubt corny, but cute and catchy, no?

well... once the music is over, the crowd has to go eat:

Oh yeah. I'd come home from school, put my copy of Hendrix/Axis: Bold as Love on the turntable, lay down on my bedroom floor and tuck myself between the stereo speakers to the left and right of my head and drift away. Most of that album still sounds mighty fine to me, including Castles Made of Sand, though my favorite was always Little Wing from that album. Ike, you want to also try "One Rainy Wish" from that album, and maybe the title track, "Axis: Bold as Love".

This Hendrix track, Third Stone From the Sun got away from me. Never heard it on the radio in its day, but sounds so ahead of it's time, but be warned, it's not a tuneful song, but a good listen in its own right. Ignore the visual 14 second ad and close your eyes.

This is a macabre but very tasty bop from Nekromantix. Horny in a Hearse.
If sex offends you, then again, close your eyes.
