Are we family friendly now?

Who is on the PN staff?

What happened to all of the old Junkyard threads?

How can a person with zero forum posts be given access to delete threads in the forum?

1. Perhaps, depends upon your family values I suppose, whatever those maybe.

2. I'm checking that out, I'll get back to you, damn but I hate hunting around in these admin forum options, like there a 100's here.

3. That's just silly. :p

2. Jon is site owner and super admin, StevOz is an admin, Slapnuts is a Super Moderator, blahblah2006 is Gamesmaster.

That's as it stands now as far as I can tell.

3. Well perhaps you have a point, still that was one post ago, all sorted now. ;)

Well Blahblah seems to be playing games with the forum.... Shove some ice cream up his ass. :rasta:

Oh, about the Junkyard, no idea, my guess is it somehow got lost in between forum upgrades, the price of progress I suppose.

Actually now you mention it all those other 'hidden' or locked forums are also gone, I'm guessing that was just more collateral damage.

suggestion to tell the "gamemaster" to stick to the games and stop trying to moderate the forums, ie delete threads.

it's been like a 12-yr old drunk with the power of babysitting 10-yr olds the last couple days.

Steve, I don't really care if the threads from the junkyard are gone. If a junkyard thread is inactive for a period of time, then it probably should be burned, but active threads are nice to keep on the forums.

WOW !!! In just one day, and with some sensible changes, it looks like this site will once again become fun to visit !!!!

Thank You,

Rick

Yes, it would be great to have some positive discussions here

But Captain BlahBlah need to understand that deleting threads/posts will cause more trouble than it is worth

move them , lock them , stick them in an ancient urn, whatever
just don't delete them

Ahhhh.... You have learned well Grasshopper....

:lolsign:

WTF do you two mean by 'LOL'??????????????????

I have never wanted to delete threads/posts (users, OK) ;)

1st rule of moderating any VP related forum 'Do not delete threads'
2nd rule of moderating any VP related forum 'DO NOT DELETE THREADS'

You forgot the Third rule,,,DELETE "WORTHLESS" THREADS!!!!!!,,,,,, IMO!

Just a little heads up,

1. John did a few things with the forums and permissions yesterday. Perhaps your junkyard has had the permission changed as to who can see it (kind of like the mods forum). Perhaps and occassional thought before speaking might stop the spread of rumours!

2. I saved a copy of the 2 threads that were deleted by me, here they are in 1 sentence.

Your a dick head, no you are!

There ya go, nothing lost (just shortened from 240 posts to 1 line)

3. I was sick to death of receiving emails titled "reported post - someones crying about name calling" ( which i am guessing all mods got but im the only one that did something about it. )

4. And finally, this should make you happy, Jon asked me to stay on and do things but i play my flash games on facebook now and actually dislike the new game section here at pn and since he and i have a difference in opinion on how to moderate i asked him to remove my moderator status.
I would actually be embarressed to be called a mod when theres all that flaming bullshit going on. But then, lets face it, the traffic rank (Pinballnirvana.com has a traffic rank of: <!--Did you know? Alexa offers this data programmatically. Visit http://aws.amazon.com/awis for more information about the Alexa Web Information Service.--><!--Did you know? Alexa offers this data programmatically. Visit http://aws.amazon.com/awis for more information about the Alexa Web Information Service.-->776,873) here isnt the best and there are a few things Jon should probably do different but as i told him last night in the chat room, I am not going to tell him how to run the place. And i am really glad i did what i did.

Anyway, i restored the 2 threads in 1 line above so all is repaired. Nothing is lost.

Thank God for facebook.

and now that you're done as moderator i thought i'd try to preserve your work-

blahblah2006: "i obviously have little experience with webforums and less with moderation. my idea of moderation is to get annoyed with people that i don't know discussing something that i don't understand. so i disregard the site owner's guidelines, delete the threads, then congratulate myself publically for doing a great job."

there. nothing is lost and your memory can live on forever. :)

A good example of why people with thin skins should not be forum moderators
(hmmmm, need to point this out to somebody but I cannot remember his name)

One little problem and it is 'you all suck, this forum sucks, I am leaving'

oh, and it is
'You're a dick head'
'No, you are'

I know you are, but what am I?

i plead guilty on that charge and IMO you were a good influence on me, pete.

unless a person has prior training then IMO very few people are qualified to moderate forums when they start. you have to be able to learn, adapt, and get to know your user base and your fellow staffers. i thought i had it all figured out when i started, but i had much to learn.

I agree that threads should never be deleted, they can be moved instead. This problem is due to me, I actually thought that blahblah was a moderator of the Arcade section only and was kind of dismayed that it happened. I tried to restore the threads from a backup but it failed, i did chat with blahblah and don't want people to blame him, he was doing something that he thought was proper. This shouldn't happen again, i think I disabled all thread deletion actions for everyone except admins.

Just wanted to respond to a couple of questions, there is a link at the bottom of the forum home page to view the groups:

The old tiltjlp spouts off! category is closed due to his demands and is archived, The old Junkyard posts were merged into The Soap Box about a year ago in an effort to streamline the forums but maybe we need to add it back..
A place to debate life and such, the former Junkyard has been merged into this category
