This is fucking driving me nuts, and yes, that cussing was needed. So, since today I can't access PN from my old junk rig. No prob, I thought, prolly regular downtime (503 time). So I tried it about 15 mins ago on my dad's laptop. No go either. My dad couldn't access armp.org or his mail server at ARMP from here either. So I give a proxy a shot and presto! I'm in! Now always using a proxy is annoying as hell and not every proxy works. I'll have to try Tor (IP-switching-program that gets you to use the IPs of other people in the network) tomorrow and see if that works. I'm almost positive that it's my provider's fault, since I can access the sites just fine when using a proxy. But the thing I wanted to say is: Do any of the computer experts here have any ideas what could be wrong? I can get all informations about my PC if you tell me how to get them. *walks away, mumbling bad language* *runs back* Thanks in advance. *goes away again* The McD

Is it possible your DNS server was/is offline? If that were the case you'd technically have internet access but names would not resolve to IP addresses so it would seem dead. Changing your DNS server to a known valid and functioning one should fix it if that's what's happening. Try changing it to 4.2.2.1 and see what happens.

Not being an expert I can't help you with your own system, but I can tell you that I went through a similar thing with my provider. I couldn't access anything through the MSN or yahoo pages. It ended up that my provider had done some so called "upgrading" overnight and had managed to block all of those pages. They didn't want to admit it at first but once I got someone on the phone who was somewhat intellegent and after I was getting mad at them they finally admitted that there was a problem. Funny thing though after my last angry phone call when I said I wasn't going to leave this alone and I was going to file a complaint with a government agency that regulates them, it was fixed by that evening.

Now that I got that off me... suddenly, PN works without a hinch, armp.org still doesn't, but at least PN does.

Seems I'm back in black and on the attack.

If some sites work but not others it's not a dead DNS server, so ignore my idea... (Though it sounds like you didn't understand it anyway.)

Oh, I tried that, but it didn't work anyway, so I gave some other things a shot, including a firmware update for my router. That seems to have fixed something.
