What's the last VP game you played excessively?

Well... as the subject title says.

I still play tons of VP tables. Today I played PD's Red and Ted's Road Show for 2 hours... tried to break my brother's high score. Very nicely done table...

Before that I played Dolly Parton... to refresh the old memories. It's quite nice with Oliver's 7-digit display... but could use a PD treatment for sure.

What about you?

Well, since I'm working on three tables right now, I've been playing those the most. 1 newly discovered Poosh bagatelle and two commercial flipperless. But other than those. I have been playing Eala's Wacky Racers, which is loads of fun, and trying out all of the new FP games. I also play at least a dozen games of Struggle Buggies every day, 6 on the table by Duglis, and 6 on the table by Furio. If I could get VPM to behave, I really like the Dude's Diner, and Who Dunnit, don't know who made that one.

Being around a long time doesn't automatically make you any smarter. I'll have to check and see if it's working right now, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I think part of the problem is I forget to disable a utility I have called Zip Magic. Other than that, it's just a matter of not undersanding the technical side of things.

You only have to copy the VPM somewhere on your hard disk (doesn't matter where), define the install paths in the setup program and press setup. It's there... all tables should work.

It's working, and always would have worked, if only I remember to disable Zip Magic. There was another reason it wasn't working that even I'm not dumb enough to admit to. Let's just say right now I know that I'm the dumbest fool anywhere.

Remember to copy the latest .dll file over the old one and reinstall. You want the current version of Pinmame, not the old one from 2003.

Actually John what is Zip Magic? If it's just a program to create .zip files and unzip them, then I suggest you give the free open source alternative 7zip a try.

No, Zip Magic is a utility that allows your folders to be zipped [does it automatically when you install it] and use them as if they weren't zipped, if that makes sense. So when I did to upload a zipped file or play VPM, I have to disable Zip Magic. I probably don't need it any longer now that I have an 18+ GB HD, but when I first got ZM, I had a 30 MB HD. But then the first computer I ever had didn't even have a HD. So I guess I'm making progress. I still miss PKZip.

I wasn't aware that XP did that, but I have seriously thought about deleting Zip Magic, and your comment about my computer running slower has convined me to quit using it. I just hate the thought of not using something I paid for, but I'm sure I got what I paid for out of it over the years.

Well, I just removed Zip Magic and degragmanted my HD, and one thing I noticed was that the defrag was a lot more complete. What surprised me though was that Zip Magic had only given me about a 1/2 GB more space/ I still have 45% of my HD free.

That sounds like overkill, but I guess it's better to have more than you need than not enough.. Mine is 18.6 GB with 8.5 still free. Sure beats diskette drive only all to pieces.

I just got 300GB too, I'm hardly using any of it - previous computer had a 20GB hard drive. First computer had no hard drive, the second one had a 20MB hard drive. My how times change.

Well, back on topic, the games I find myself playing the most (in not particular order) are Road Show, Safe Cracker (even with it's weird emulation issue), Who Dunnit and Medieval Madness. Others come and go, but these are the staples I keep coming back to.

Well, I've finally got VPM working properly again, and now that I got rid of Zip Magic won't have any more problems. This afternoon I played Alger, Time Warp and Warlock by Kristian, which are all fantastic. Then I played Bugs Bunny's Birthday Ball and had a blast, but also wore myself out with all the extra balls. A nice break from working on my own projects.

The last VP game I played the hell out of was Eala's Asteroid Annie & the Aliens, Eala's tables are always fantastic. I liked the layout alot and when that happens I have to play with the editor. I turned it into Mars Attacks and Eala gave me permission to release it. It is at VP-O if you're interested and it's one of my best graphic jobs.
