Thus it begins as it ends......

1. A Cup of Tea

Nan-in, a Japanese master during the Meiji era (1868-1912), received a university professor who came to inquire about Zen.

Nan-in served tea. He poured his visitor's cup full, and then kept on pouring.

The professor watched the overflow until he no longer could restrain himself. "It is overfull. No more will go in!"

"Like this cup," Nan-in said, "you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?"

Dammit bob, you're not meant to post about food, John maybe reading this.

Strueth....now I'm hungry!

You been going through your old comics?

Yeah, I'm reading this, but since I just overstuffed myself I'm not tempted by Bob's post. But anchovies are indeed one of the foods of the gods. Anyway, thanks fir the link. I lost it a while back and couldn't find it again. Here's a link for your foutune and kucky numbers.

It's Ok Steve, John already made himself one with everything. :)

Speakin of comics, I think those lazy zen masters would make good standup comics, they sure as hell wouldn't gey a real job. :)

Ah, a real job?

Of course you would know........ :rof:

Then in the light of the day, we awoke and no longer did we believe in the falsehood of the work 'ethic', for we knew to plunder and toil to enrich a few power crazed fiends was the apex of foolishness.

when in city college, they had us read "Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance"

has anyone read it ?

now i'll be honest, the first time i picked it up, it didn't take long to put down, and forget for about 6 months,
got a "D" that semester :D, but when moving from one city to another, i decided to read it while riding.

i didn't put it down till i was done the next morning.

it is an excellent book, and the book itself follows the path to enlightment, inasmuch as the way it is written.

oddly enough, about 4 months ago, i walked into a taco bell and there was a college student reading the book,
i commented about it and we talked for about 10 minutes about it.

hella good read.
