Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum but being 44 definitely not new to pinball. I just wanted to start off with a easy lighthearted question: What is Nip It that was featured on HAPPY DAYS like?

It's also being worked on to make the move to vp9. But it will take a while.

Plus, you're not really "chatting" when you show up and spew out a sentence. That's more of a very short monologue. I'm glad we've discovered the robot's weak point before Skynet takes over.

bally's nip it was a fun game to play. it was one of only a few EM's to have 2 ball multiball , flippers that closed to capture balls called zipper flippers , and a ball grabbing arm called the balligator that was controlled by its own button next to the right flipper button. those 3 things kept the machine popular for many years. i have just seen one for sale on CL for either 6 or 8 hundred. if i had the extra money i might have bought it. one of my favorite EM's.

what was that thing fonzie used to do... thump the machine and it would give him a free game or something?

cool... is that the one you're working on, itchigo?

btw, does the drawer-piece on the backglass do something more than just frame the monitor?

Actually that's the one Hauntfreaks was working on. It's available at the VPU I think. PBecker1946 is also working on a "photoreal" version. But he gets bored working on stuff and starts a new one. It's in the "rotation", but he has like almost 30 in various stages. He's on the right, I'm on the left.

The area on the backbox is storage for this: A plug and play Mame panel which plugs into my lockdown bar. I left the biz about when DMD was taking off, and I'm not really into that era as much. Also, there's no way in hell I'm going to reconfigure all my tables for 3 screens...-again. (Already doing that to add plunger/ball loader support.

One thing I don't see people doing- that I'm doing is I leave my backglass plugged into the cable/dvd, etc. Since my cab is next to my workbench I watch tv/movies on it all the time. It IS a tv after all...

hi, welcome!

i don't see it here at PN, but there is a re-creation you can download and play in visual pinball, listed a little past the middle of this page:
http://irpinball.org/70s.htm

there is also more info about the machine here:
http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?any=nip-it&search=Search+Database&searchtype=quick
I'm also a new here, so thank you for the link with games, but is it all games are here? I'd like to find something special instead of just playing the few types of it.. Will be indebted to you for the suggestion. thank you!

where is the unapprove option, anyway? is that a super mod thing or something from the admin panel?

  • @ Ike Savage:
    oh wait, I see it

  • @ JonPurpleHaze:
true, but they could also be invisible to users and perhaps allow the category to be removed
    Quote
  • @ JonPurpleHaze:
Don't know, do know that if you delete a category all files would also be removed so that's bad,

  • @ Ike Savage:
seems like we discussed it in some length at one point and came up with the current arrangement, but I don't have a strong opinion on that stuff. the one thing I do like is that I can clear out weaker tables from the main section without deleting them

  • @ JonPurpleHaze:
Sounds fine to me Ike, can't disagree with ya!
    Quote
  • @ Ike Savage:
is it that you want to declutter more of the resources section?
    Quote
  • @ JonPurpleHaze:
    No it's fine
    Quote
  • @ Ike Savage:
also, just to be clear-- the issue with "unapprove" is that you don't know if the table actually gets deleted from the server, right? AFAIK I have no way of seeing where the tables actually lie on the server, so it's something I can't test effectively
    Quote
  • @ JonPurpleHaze:
They wouldn't get deleted from the server, I don't think.

  • @ JonPurpleHaze:
Can we get back to the subdomain folders/files, the uploads.pinballnirvana.com folder is where uploads would need to be, just wondering what might need to be deleted..

  • @ Ike Savage:
do you mind a phone call? probably easier to discuss, save some wear and tear on my hands, too

  • @ JonPurpleHaze:
No problems Ike, can't talk now but will try and set this up.

  • @ Ike Savage:
okay, well let me know if you need space cleared up across the torrent area, because I have some ideas
    Quote
  • @ JonPurpleHaze:
Yeah, noticed a .zip file contains many versions etc..

Uploading a 1.34 GB Pink Floyd The Wall zip file via ftp to test...

  • @ JonPurpleHaze:
The file is actually on the server in FP originals but isn't public.

Um, so, Hi!. What did I miss? (he says as though he ducked to the toilet while the adds were on...)
    Quote
  • @ AnonTet:
Hi guys, I«m asking here as it might have a quicker response. How can I check the ball size used by authors in FP? or at least the default size if anyone knows. Thanks
    Quote
  • @ Gimli:
Most FP authors use the default size and don't know how to use BAM to alter it.
    Quote
  • @ Gimli:
I think it may be 13.8 though
    Quote
  • @ AnonTet:
Thanks. But while I've waited I've looked at a ring around a ramp in LotR that's 26mm so i figure the ball being 24mm. A bit short of real life ball size if that's so.
    Quote
  • @ AnonTet:
of course I could've used my brains earlier and create a table with some carefully spaced guides and check that the ball is in fact 27mm in diameter. Peeking at fp.exe and bam.dll and there's no way to change this. you can set the colour and the id to track it though (but that's known)
    Quote
  • @ Gimli:
With Bam custom ball coding you can create balls of any size...see my titorial
