Cross Country (Bally, 1963) VP8 v1.0
IPD No. 598
New VP8 Build of the 1963 Bally game Cross Country. Cross Country was designed by Ted Zale and released in January, 1963. Bally was late entering the flipper game market. Bally did produce three multi-player flipper games in 1956 and 1957, but it was in 1963 that they began their run of flipper games that became quite popular. These games were all designed by Ted Zale, and Cross Country is the first one that was truly his design. Ted Zale is a pinball hall of fame designer and several of what would become his trademark design elements show up in his first game -- The extensive use of rollunders, a free ball gate (his invention with this game) and the tilted top entry lanes.
