Williams Black Knight (Williams, 1980) problem

Hello
I got my first pinball, something I liked to play as a teenager.
I play a lot of video games (I have about 60 of them)
Back to the Black Knight, I checked all the fuses, they seem to be good! The flippers are not working, when I roll the ball to the drop down targets and bumpers they seem to work. Not sure where to start, if I could get some help to figure this out I would greatly appreciate it.

the first thing to check is the relay on the driver board. this is the flipper enable relay. it will pull in when you start a game. you might be able to hear it or feel it pull in when you start a game, if it does not pull in the flippers will not work, and the relay is prob. bad and should be changed.

Hello Gamers
I have just install a new Rotten dog P/S and MPU327 board, Can not get game to start.
It will take quarters and makes the sound for a credit, when you go to push the button to start the game nothing. at one time I don't know what I did the game started and I played for a minute or two. when the balls would go into the pockets it would not eject the ball or give me a new one. while I was playing it seems that the drop down targets, ball bomber worked. the flipper on the top and bottom were sluggish. The original driver board was missing components the flipper relay was broken off, what looked like to be very big resistor got very hot at one time. that is why I bought a new P/S & MPU327
can someone help me get my favorite pinball going

that new combo mpu/driver board looks really nice for the price. you still might have a switch matrix problem. check out your playfield switch chart and test all the switches on playfield and cabinet in the diag. switch test mode. remove the apron to test and inspect the trough switches. post your results of problem switches to try to track down the problem.

Can you please tell me how to test for a switch matrix problem? Where would I find a diagram for the playfield switch chart to test all switches? I checked google and Yahoo for the diagram, I had no luck. Then again I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for. I really do appreciate your help

on the pinball database it has a manual. pages 11,12 will have the info on switch test.

the sound/speech problem. the smaller board connected to the sound board is the speech board. it has its own volume control. try adjusting that when you go into sound test by pushing the button on the sound board. is there any sounds or background sounds at all? to get out of sounds test turn machine off then on. the master volume control is usually in the front left of cabinet. try adjusting that also. light problem. when a single light isnt working with a known good bulb the problem is usually the socket diode is bad or its wire came off. replacing the diode must be done with the polarity band installed in the same direction as the diode that came out.diodes can be checked with a dmm also. flipper problem. flipper problems are usually flipper button or EOS switch related. i use a metal points file because it does the best job of cleaning pitted contacts.do not use any kind of file on gold plated switch contacts. also removing the flipper coil bracket, lifting out coil, and cleaning the coil sleeve and plunger sometimes helps.
