Gottlieb Bone Busters Inc. (Gottlieb, 1989) release to many balls

Hi, working on my 1st restore. Thought I had the bugs figured out... game starts normal but at some point during play it will release 2 balls instead of one. The switch on the out lane works, the ball is sitting on it, but it still kicks another ball out. Tried changing the dip switch's to 3 and 5 ball play, tried it in single and multi player, still does it. Any ideas?

does the ball trough have micro switches or optos? have they all been checked in switch test?

Is there any chance it is a software bug? I have seen up-dated ROM chips for some games. How many balls get installed in that machine? Does the game have 2-ball Multi-Ball play at other times? Also what switch does " The switch on the out lane works, the ball is sitting on it " refer to? Is it in the trough where the ball drains?

It's the shooter lane switch. where the ball drops into so you can shoot it into play. Yes, this game has mutli ball play. I don't know if it's 2 or 3. My grandson came over today and I let him play it. 1st few games it would give him an extra ball. Other times he'd play the whole game with out any extra ball dropping in.
Update, had a chance to run some tests today, the switch test shows sw #27 closed. My Bone Busters schematic doesn't show a sw #27. I manually closed all the switches and only sw #1 doesn't seem to work (it's the top left spot target where you have to hit the ball that's under a ramp to get the opera jackpot). I'm wondering if it's mismarked. I have several pages of addendums but nothing for this. The switch doesn't look open. Tomorrow I'll dig into it and check it with a meter.
Anybody know where sw #27 is?

OMG, only switch I didn't check, the coin slot switch... is #27. Now test shows all switch's open. Next step is to trace the wire from sw#1 and see if I can figure out why it doesn't work. Don't know if this has anything to do with it releasing an extra ball.
