Cannot Create Offscreen Surface Issues

I'm needing some serious help here. I tried posting at VPF with no luck. Here's the issue: I had to reinstall VP8 on my new computer. It has an ATI Radeon 9500Pro/9700 AGP Vid card. When I try to run any table, except JP Salas's F-14 Tomcat, I get "Cannot create offscreen surface". Now, here's the crazy part: if the grid in the editor is on, I have to turn it off or if it's off, I have to turn it on! Keep in mind, I have never had this issue before. When I installed VP before, it just worked. No issues except the usual blunders and forgotten things, but nothing on this scale. It's ALL tables except F-14 Tomcat. Even the VP tables do it, not just VPM tables. HELP!

At the top of the editor Click Preferences > Video Options.
If "Cache Rendered Tables" is checked, then uncheck it.
Try opening a trouble table and in the Options Menu take a look the Grid size.
It should be 50 by default though that normally shouldn't matter, but try resetting the size to 50 just to see if it works.
Then Save the table, close it and VP, then reopen VP, try the table and see if it works, otherwise there's something else going on.

EDIT: Hold off on the "Grid Size" adjust (experiment) until you take a look at the "Cache Rendered Tables" setting.

Never mind. I tested it and it does work on all tables. Just broke over 800,000 on Paragon! Awesome! Thanks again, Sleepy! Much appreciated.

Which worked, the disabling "Cache rendered tables" or the "Grid Size" experiment?
Disabling "Cache rendered tables" is in the editor so you only need to uncheck it once with no need to save any table after that, but I'm interested in finding out what went right.
