well, about 3months ago i came across a Bally Capt fantastic 1975 in my area.
i made the call and drove across the valley to go see it.
the guy had a lot of classic PB and video games.
it was in really nice condition for 50yrs old.
it had some wear on the cab and the PF but not bad.
i told the guy to fire it up and let's see how it plays.
it started up, the reels reset back to 00000 because it goes to 99,999 then start over on 00000.
the ball kicked in to the launch...so far it seemed ok.
i plunged the ball through launch and here what was wrong with it.
the ball came through the A,B lanes ok....the pop bumpers were weak, the right upper flipper and right lower flipper was weak and the drop targets had problems resetting.
the glass was removed....
i threw the ball across the tables at the drop targets to simulate a hit with the ball...they clearly had problems.
i could see it had been played and needed some serious work to all of the features on the table.
we talked about what i found what was wrong.
i told him i was interested but it has to be fixed before i agree to $3K to what he wanted for it.
he said ok, i'll call you when it's ready.
about maybe 2weeks went by, he called me so i drove over there again.
i fired it up to see if the work was done.
negative....the upper right flipper was twitching and nothing seemed to be fixed.
i said, was up...it's still broken....i drove over here for nothing.....you said you would fix it.
i buy it for $3k then i need to find a tech to fix it then that will probably cost me another $1k maybe more to fix the pop bumpers, drop targets and the flippers.
he said, i'm selling it to you for $3k and that's a gift.
i walked....if you want i can you his phone # in San Dimas Calif.
you will have pick it up, transport yourself back home wherever that is.
buyer beware, it plays but needs lots of work.
if you can do it yourself that will save alot of $$$.
if you call a tech, good luck on that....
i called a tech in the area.
i explained over the phone what was wrong.
he said $250 4 the house call and maybe $800 or more 4 parts and labor....
the flippers need coils and the drop targets i dunno.....i need to see it.
bummer, been looking for a machine for awhile.
it's a money pit.....maybe you can fix it.....i'm out.
