WASHINGTON, July 19, 2014 – Beloved entertainment icon Casey Kasem died on June 15, however his dying and his death have fallen far short of any dignity.

Kasem’s body is now missing. Wife Jean Kasem is in possession of his remains that were removed from the Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma, Washington.

Kerri Kasem was given a legal temporary restraining order on Wednesday that prevents her dad’s second wife, Jean Kasem, from cremating or removing the remains from the funeral home.

Spokesperson Candace Corkum has confirmed to CNN that they facility is no longer in possession of the body. Jean Kasem denies that her late husband’s body is missing...

Prior to his brief rest home stay and death shortly after, he had stepped out of the house to take a walk and was missing for several weeks. The current wife didn't know where he went to, but he was discovered in Washington State. Then it was the rest home. Then the hospital with bed sores discovered. Then the collapse and then the pull on the life support after passing into a coma.

And now he's vanished again.

Scoped. This is when the aircheck/program excludes the songs,
so all you hear is the DJ announcing and finishing, and maybe a few bars of each tune, but not the songs. I have to say it. I love hearing the recordings of these kinds of broadcasts intact, including the old style radio commercials. And particularly if they come from the Holidays around Christmas Eve.

Here's one now, from the 1960's. Casey probably played this one as a DJ in Los Angeles, somewhere between The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, The Mamas and The Papas, Los Bravos, The Left Banke, The Seeds, Sam the Sham and The Pharoahs, The Supremes, Little Anthony and The Imperials, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Cannibal and The Headhunters, Percy Sledge, Keith, Lulu, Glenn Campbell, Bob Lind, The Stone Ponies, The Doors, Spanky and Our Gang, The Monkees, Jewel Akens, and Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, and Arthur Lee and Love. hmm... i used to be crazy about the 50's and 60's before eventually realising they were mor or less just as f-d up as any other era. still have fondness for them, but they're no longer magical by association so to speak.

part of why i love that blooper collection, i guess.

I was wondering how very old this set sounds to the kids?
I think it comes down to how "pro" the sound is, in any era,
vs. sounding like something that I could do with my own hands
in my own garage. Which is why the new stuff turns me off. A lot of it sounds "pro" again. And why I liked Nirvana.

for me it's not just the 50's / 60's, tho. i used to be kind of a history nut in general with extra focus on certain eras, such as the revolutionary war period and the early - mid roman empire. it just doesn't matter that much, now. i learned what i could from my studies and also realised that the whole of civilisation is pretty much a house of cards... not to be taken as seriously as i used to think.

i learned more about life and human beings from goodall (chimps), sapolsky (baboons) and campbell (myth and the psyche) than i did from all the history books combined.

I think the only thing the Romans did was to grow our food in manure to keep the conquered peoples from having the strength to revolt while feeding us corn laced with the manure, while wearing somebody else's face like a mask, taken from the cross, which is what the vinegar was used for.
