don't know if anyone else has tried this, but I was frustrated that decals have some good points such as stretch to fit wrapping of images, but inflexibility of shape, whereas walls are easy to shape, but are frustrating when it comes to image wrapping since you have to build a global image to fit them all.

However, I have found that ramps can be a interesting alternative to decals and walls. If you put a ramp with no walls and a top and bottom height of 0.1, with an equal top and bottom width and then wrap an image to it, you effectively get a decal on the playfield, with some advantages -

- you can change the shape of it to say, a triangle, or a path.
- you can have them at any angle (i.e they don't have to be flat, they can go against walls etc)
- you can choose between global and stretched image wrapping, so they can be moved around easily without having to change background images.

On the downside:

- transparencies don't work
- the shapes are not as flexible as with a wall

Basically, they have some of the advantages of walls, and some of the advantages of decals, they're kind of half way between the two. Useful to know.

here's an example. I created a quick banner in photoshop, and now I can put it anywhere I want on the table, and change the shape of it to fit whatever I like. I can also have as many of these as I want without having to change the background image for the walls.

That's a unique use for bending text. Very cool. :)

Nice idea. I never thought of using a ramp to make banners.
