Gottlieb Drop-A-Card (Gottlieb, 1971) e/m motor won't stop

hi, all. old topic but looking for new insight; score reel switches almost certainly ok; switches on their relays, ditto;reset bank etc., ditto (as far as i can determine); what's left but the motor? i've stared at the schematic and been reading online literally for days now and need help or to let it be for awhile, but that's the kiss of death for my ADD. thanks

Look for a normally closed set of contacts on the score motor itself, in the circuit that powers the motor. They may not be opening at the proper time. Try inserting a piece of paper between contacts to see if the motor stops.

i've done that (with a business card) but no change yet. i believe i have eliminated the score reels as the problem

sorry, gottlieb drop-a-card. everything worked well, only the ones reel had a slight hesitation on reset. then i replaced all the drop targets and then the playfield lights were out except for down in the apron. i got those back on (i don't how at this point) and then motor, target banks resets, ball count and who knows what else are continuing to cycle rapidly. i've spent a lot of time on the score reels and believe that they're in good shape- the switches (if i have identified them correctly) are opening and closing when they should and they do reset .the motor switches are a bit intimidating and let's face it, i most likely screwed something up trying to fix it, but that's where i'm at now. thanks

this era of machine uses a relay latch in relay bank next to score motor. relays usually found in bank are start relay, reset relay, game over relay, 1st ball relay, last ball relay, and tilt relay. when pressing start button start relay pulls in running score motor, resetting ball count unit, drop targrt banks and latch in relay bank. reset relay operates score motor and resets score reels. when score reels reset to zero reset relay pulls back in allowing outhole relay to pull in sending ball to shooter lane advancing to ball 1. possible relays to check that make the score motor run are start relay, reset relay, outhole relay, 50 point relay, 500 point relay, score motor control relay, 10 cent relay, and 25 cent relay. also there is a set of switches on the score motor usually in position 1 , called motor runout that keeps the motor running 120 degrees or 1/3 of complete revolution. check your schematic score motor circuit path to find all relays that operate score motor.
