Stern Pinball today announced their first cornerstone title of 2025 with the reveal of Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant’s Eye.
This is a three-flippered game themed around the classic Dungeons & Dragons role playing board game, created in 1974 by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. It takes many cues from the rules and characters in the game, so will appeal to fans of the genre.
As with all their cornerstone games, this new Stern title comes in three variants with varying levels of playfield features and decorative bling. Those are the Pro priced at $6,999, the Premium at $9,699, and the Limited Edition which has a maximum run of 740 machines (based on the creation year of Dungeons & Dragons in 1974) which costs $12,999.
Let’s take a look at each of the three version of the game, starting with the Pro and working up to the Limited Edition which has the most playfield and cabinet features. As usual, the Premium model has the same playfield feature set and design as the Limited Edition but lacks items such as the inner cabinet artblades, the red paint on the metalwork, the anti-reflection playfield glass, and the shaker motor. All cabinet, backbox and playfield artwork was designed by Vincent Proce.

Now let’s move on to the playfields.
As we said, the Premium and Limited Edition playfields have the same mechanisms, artwork and design, so we will concentrate on the Limited Edition version to show how the playfield looks when combined with the inner cabinet artblades.
Pro
The Pro model’s playfield
The big attraction on the playfield is the large, red dragon named Rath the Relentless. This is fully animated in the top two levels, can both spit balls and swallow them, and incorporates the ability to detect the direction from which it is bashed. However, in the Pro model Rath only has limited vertical movement, doesn’t spit balls, can’t swallow them and has no bash direction sensing either.

Another key playfield element is the gelatinous cube which incorporates and electro magnet to grab and hold the ball inside. This mechanism is found on all three variants of the game.
