It's a bird, they generally do not do human emotions like 'mean', territorial for sure and they will defend their airspace.

Indeed defend their space, they nest in rather high trees and unless you happen to try and climb that tree I doubt you are likely to be at any risk.

I have seen one once swoop down from miles in the air and grab a duck off the dam at the back of the golf course, duck didn't stand a chance, it was a sight to behold to be sure.

We see a few of the seagull-variety around here. I'm about 20 miles from the coast while they tend to stay in cooler climates, Oregon or the State of Washington. Where we are, just a bit closer to the Equator, we see more Hawks. And the closer to Mexico are the Aplomado Falcon. I had to look up the name. Don't know them.

Your bird sounds like it lives in the plains away from the water. Like the falcons. They're desert birds.

I live 2 streets back from the ocean, I can smell the salt in the air on a good day, this eagle has a vast domain and is top of all birds of prey here in OZ, it's range is vast, thus the bounty in days of ignorance.

Eagles are carrion birds and will eat anything with meat on it. Eagles really are nothing but vultures with a real pretty paint job.

Never read about a vulture swooping down from miles above to kill a wild live animal or duck, have you?

No fish, the local osprey do that.

watching eagle webcams is a pretty fun thing, specifically nesting season, in which you can see the youngsters grow up and the parents doing all that work.
