Bally Eight Ball (Bally, 1977) Resetting

I have a 1978 Bally Eight Ball pinball machine that I love.

Recently, during game-play, the entire machine will reset (similar to what happens when the slam switch is triggered.

I assumed this may be happening because it was an old machine with origianl boards. So, I have replaced every board, including the display boards, lamp driver module, MPU module, solenoid driver/voltage regulator module, the rectifier board, and even the transformer.

...it is still resetting.

Any ideas on what else I should look at?

Checking the Diodes on the flipper coils. If they have broken loose, it will cause the machine to reset. Also check connector J3 on the solonoid driver board. Pin 12 has an Orange wire. Try wiggling it with the machine on. If it resets, you fould your problem. This wire provides power for the transformer that becomes the 5 volt for the entire machine. A lot of time this will be an insulation displacement connector instead of a crimp connector. If so, you should replace the entire connector.

check for a big blown capacitor. In my harlem its called the c43 I think. that and the flipper diodes both will cause this problem in most machines
