FLASH PINBALL PROBLEMS

having problems with the pinball Flash_I1 table .
- be sure to copy flash_l1.nv to your nvram directory or you'll
have to manually set the background sound to on, as it defaults
off.
How do you set the background sounds manually ,and turn default off,the file itself looks like it can't be changed the only option to turn it on from the table itself. how to get into settings of williams tables. i know how to open door .

Start the game and press the F6 key.
Most tables have a checkbox menu that should appear when pressing F6, though some don't.

ALL SOUNDS WORK EXCEPT , BACKGROUND SOUND THAT STAYS ON THROUGHOUT THE GAME.

If you mean the monotone humming synthesizer sound, that is as should be. The default sounds in Flash are set to electronic "chimes".
The familiar synth sounds are the secondary optional setting.

On the F6 menu *I think* you can Uncheck one of the boxes at the top of the menu to turn off the constant synth background sound, but check for it to make sure.
Don't try it while playing a game. Try it before adding credits or pressing the 1 key to start the game, then press the F3 key to initialize the game with the new settings.

Remember the settings that you change so if they do not work you can change them back, but on some versions of tables including Flash, the sound and music checkboxes are marked. I'm not sure about the version you are using though.

To activate the background sound for this table, you need to activate it through a ROM adjustment. To activate it you have to do the following:

1. Press 9 to enter diagnostic mode. The displays should go blank when this key is pressed.
2. Press 8 to enter test mode.
3. Press 7 then press 8 to see 01 in the credit display.
4. Continue to press 8 until you see 04 in the credit display, 31 in the match/ball in play display and 00 in the first player display.
5. Press 1 to change the value in the first player display to 01.
6. Press F3 to save the change and reset the table.

You should have the background sound the next time you play the table.

that humming sound was an innovative feature in pins. it was one of I think only two pins to have it.
the more objects hit and the better score you got that tone would start to climb in pitch going all the way up
to the ultrasonic range then it started all over again.
it was both cool to hear and nerve-racking all at the same time!
