Flintstones Menu Black Box

When I play the Flintstones (v2.1_JPG-PINS), there is a big black box in the middle of the playfield where the menu is supposed to be. When I press/hold R, the menu lights up with instructions but when I release R the section turns back to black. Anybody else have this? Any help on this? I can't make the box go away. Thank you very much.
 
Fixed

I changed the video option setting to full screen and it's fixed. The menu still pops up when you press/hold R.
