Gottlieb Flying Carpet (Gottlieb, 1972) name of part?

ok, so I have a flying carpet em that I finally got working after about a year of struggle trying to understand schematics. the issue I have now is that I'm missing the devices that check coins when they are put into the coin slot. they currently just fall into the machine without them. I wanted to know the name of it so I could order/buy some to replace this. it'd be nice to put my extra change into to play

Older gottlieb machines used a split method of coin chutes above the coin door. The coin chutes roll the coin at an angle to the top of the coin mechs. These coin mechs used 4 screw in pins to lock the coin mechs in place. 25 cent coin mechs can still be found, dime and nickel coin mechs are more rare. Since everything isn't on the coin door the adjustment of the coin chutes opening to the coin mechs is tricky. Even the level of the front of the machine can throw off this adjustment.

is there a way of knowing what I need to look for? I don't even know what it looks like compared to all the other coin mechs

quarter coin mech

I believe your FC came original with 2 coin slots. the left one to accept dimes for 1 credit and the right one to accept quarters for 3 credits. Replacement coin entry plates are available at Pinball Resource. Also go to competitiveproducts.com . they offer a metal quarter coin mech that looks similar to originals. not sure that this would work in your FC, but you could contact them to perhaps get more info. hopefully you still have the coin chutes that are attached to the coin door directly behind the coin entrance plates and that directs coins into the coin mechanisms. hope this helps.

also ebay is good source for used parts. I check regularly for original parts I am looking for. Contact Pinball Resource for actual part #'s for your needed coin mech's even if they don't have them at least you will have part #'s you need to look for.

It is a great idea...Most home machines are rigged to 'Free Play' and all. But using your Pinball as a man size coin bank... Why did I not think of it? Especially a three slot machine that could accept 5¢ 10¢ & 25¢ coins.
Now, where to hide the key...?
Just Drop It In One Of Those Slots too....

I was just watching this new post about a very nice home build VP table. It shows an after market coin door with coin accepter . I guess the coin mech can be had sans door...
