I love the cats...except for one thing.
Cat piss.
I've got one that is pissing in different spots and I don't know which one is doing it.
I can watch to see which cats are angry at the other cat(s).
That usually will detect the offender. Cats often do not appreciate the piss of another.

The thing of it is, cat piss is omnipotent!
The smell is pervasive.
The scent is inscrutable. Cryptic.
I smell it. It reeks. But I cannot for the life of me tell where the Hell it is coming from, and don't get me wrong.
I have an excellent nose for detecting smell by direction, but cat piss is so omnipresent that I can only detect its location by height, altitude, but not by North, South, East or West.

Unless I accidentally sit right smack down in it...

...and then detect it on my pants afterwards.

Cats suck big time, although cat lovers will put up with their smells. Why? I do not know.

Never been a fan.

I can't stand dogs. They just don't know when to shut the f--- up! I don't know how many times I've yelled at my friend's dog to just shut the f--- up. He just doesn't learn a damned thing. Dumb ass dog!

LOVE my cat. She is not stinky and is VERY VERY well behaved. She can be loud when she "meows" but she talks to me and is always kind.

Just wish my friend would get rid of this damned dog once and for all!!! Doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

If you have more than one cat, you MUST have multiple litter boxes. If you don't, you'll know it - they fight for that box using their pee. That's how they show domination. Glad I only have one cat at a time. Tatum is a great cat and ever since I lost my Midnight (who was 20 human years old when she passed away) I had to have another furry friend. I have not seen a dog that can do this for me. Funny how there are more cat lovers than dog lovers though. I remember reading an article about cats and dogs in homes and cats outwieghed dogs by 40%! I was amazed. Cats are easier to take care of too - and CHEAPER :)

Well I am a dog lover more than a cat lover - saying that I would not have a dog in the house 'cos they smell. Plus you have to take them on walks [may be healthier if I did] and in the UK you have to pick up the shit after them and dispose of it hygienically. If ya don't, the pooper patrols will fine yer sorry ass big time. Now the thought of picking up warm dog shit is not an appetiser for me at all. So the pooch is gonna have to stay in the home before being put down. :( Sad but oh so true.

And as a very keen gardener, fucking cat shit is the pits .....

But dogs are known to eat shit and then run up and pant in your face with their tongue hanging out.

I think the difference between the two for me is, because dogs are insecure as dependents. Their friendliness comes from being subordinated by humans. It's not their style and it renders their demeanor as anxious at a minimum.
That's why strange dogs bark in their yards when you walk past. If they are wagging their tails and barking, then listen to the sound of their voices. I always hear a pleading sound seeking "Master" when they wag and bark.
If the tails are straight up and stiff and they are barking and growling, then they are defending their turf against you. Get out of there, especially with a large or aggressive dog.

A cat on the other hand holds their tail straight up and stiff when they trust you. A cat that trusts you is not pleading like a dog. The cat is usually relating to you as a fellow creature, especially when they lay down to sleep beside you, and when they talk to you in limited words and emotive sounds. I've never experienced this with domestic dogs. Only strays who have escaped the yard, and not usually those who have been abandoned by their owners except for a few.

Abandoned dogs are still often dependent on Master and will track you up and down the street, especially if you are carrying groceries.

The stray dog, and sometimes an abandoned dog, who breaks free from a home and has lived on their own for a while are the friendliest because they are not owned against their spirit. They are equal to the demeanor of friendly cats, but cats are more likely to develop friendship by their inherent nature without coaxing or by the want for being abandoned.

An alley cat (feral cat; wild cat) who has never been cared for is the hardest to befriend, but they will stay away from you.
A wild dog who defends his turf will often confront you.

As for the litter box, no, only if it is not maintained.
That can happen overnight if one of the cats gets sick and the box is objectionable.
In fact, if one cat is pissing elsewhere, sometimes the other cats will use the same spot unless I detect it and clean it up.

They much prefer burying their wastes in any available litterbox or sand, or keeping it in one place.

A male cat will spray around a living space to communicate to a female by leaving a scent for mating purposes.
That stuff smells different, like a reeky pine-citrus piss.

All shit is bad for those having to clean it up. And the smell of cat piss is awful .... as is male spraying scent. Urgh.

I loved my Labrador when I were young but now I'm a house owner I wouldn't want a smelly animal in here. Our neighbours keep their dog in a kennel outside but I couldn't do that.

So for me its fish! Talk to them all evening and no backchat or walks required :)

Does your dog talk to you?
I've owned dogs in the past and my brother's Golden Retriever mix often made voweler word sounds, and a "yeah...yeah" grunt when he wanted something.

In my apartment complex we are charged $30/month for each dog but no charge to have a cat, so guess which one I will be getting? also if i ever get a job again I can trust a cat to behave itself during the day while i am at work. I can't say that about any dog, as most will keep themselves busy, chewing up things you don't want chewed! also I can put food out for a cat and he/she will eat when it gets hungry. Most dogs on the other hand will gobble it all up at once, making itself sick or worse! And cats do not bark at people walking by!! and they clean themselves, another big plus! and they protect little children from Trolls (and they are the liaison between the living and the afterlife; Egyptian history) ok guess you can say i prefer cats but I grew up owning dogs so they have their place too (just must be a BIG place)
