Favorite Pinball Machine
paragon
Hi group. I am a Newbie to the site but not to Pinball. I had a Paragon in my late teens at home and that is where I learned to play these things....

I just bought a Future Spa. I tested it at the sellers house and it worked great. We transported it to my house yesterday and everything seemed fine during Transit. When I got it home the only thing I did was drill out the lock. So when I plugged it up and turned it on only some of the lights are coming on. I let it warm up and that did not make a difference.

I contacted the seller and he said it never did that to him and offered me a refund so I have no reason to not believe him.

So what could have happened and how do I make this thing play again?

Thank you in advance,
John Weaver

There are so many things to consider here. Was the back box removed for transport? Have you tried re-seating any of your connectors. Is the game starting/playing? What lights are working? Fuses? Diagnostic reports? Tell us a bit more about what's up with your machine...C_S

No the back box was not removed. I did however have the machine secured well in a box truck. I will be in honest in saying I have done nothing short of plugging it in. As I get older it makes sense to go get some good information and go from there. I feel like it will be something simple but where do I start? I know my way around a Multimeter pretty good....

As for the lights, it is really the backlighting and also the quarter insert lights are on. Also, the humming sounds like it is coming out of the speaker in the bottom.

Talk about a kid getting discouraged on Christmas morning Lol... We were looking forward to being kids tonight lol..

Any pointers or advice is greatly appreciated and thank you,

check all connections going into the boards in the back box
it may just be a loose plug somewhere which is what it sounds like
other than that check the soldered joints at all the board connectors too
if any looked cracked at their bases then they need re-soldering
buy a jewelers loupe for close up inspection of them or a damn good magnifying glass
also look for the fuses maybe one of them popped when plugging it in

isnt it ironic that the people that carried that widebody machine got a good workout just to play a workout based machine.

When I try to post to the thread I get a message saying the administrator has to OK it... But if I see this posted I have been doing something wrong lol....

hi all and welcome to the forum. do you have the key for the back box lock? you have to remove the backglass to gain entry to the electronics. once backglass is out, un latch and open door. watch the top left board when you turn machine on for led flashes. count flashes and turn machine off. do visual inspection for loose connectors. the transformer and rectifier board is located on right bottom corner of back box. it has most of the fuses including the 120v line fuse. so un-plug machine before pulling or testing fuses. hi-res pics of the board with led on it and the rectifier board would help.
