Williams Grand Prix (Williams, 1976) won't stop resetting

New game reset and machine keeps going won't stop, numbers all go to zero but motor and in cabinet bank of cams and stack of contacts keep going, top back case one player relay contacts to set number reels keep working. have to pull plug bank of pins bottom far right 24 pins, shuts off head of machine and bottom relay cams. Replace plug and game will stop running on and game can begin. would like to know where problem is.

This is a common problem and often discussed in this and other forum. There are several things that need to be completed for a successful reset. The score motor will run on till all have been satisfied. There are zero position contacts on score reels, ball counter etc. A reset relay operates when reset completes. Cleaning and inspecting contacts may solve your problem. Read up on the do's and DONT'S of pinball repair / maint. The silver contacts used in 99% switches and relays are ruined by abrasives and many solvents like WD40.
