well around here it seems to be mostly cover and tribute
bands and lots of Metal, so yes difficult for original artists
like me, but Dallas is getting bigger all the time, so hopefully
be more venues intrested in good art instead of money and gimmicks...

Ah, the Observor! Brings back memories! Dallas certainly had it going on in the '80s. I saw the Replacements, REM and Dave Edmunds all in the space of a year! Sorry to hear things are a bit moribund these days.

Moribund is also The Strip and L.A.
We have the senior acts at the venues or House of Blues, bla-bla, but the teen spirit, the culture, the general air of agreement, or protest, or that feeling that you could step out tonight and find someone strong and on the way up happening Now is as cold as a witch's ass.

And the gimmick acts playing from the same riff book using this year's "gotta-have-it" voice FX that ends up only sounding like a telephone anyhow.
Don't they make you feel like you're at Disneyland (instead of enjoying a night with kindred spirits)?
