Hi everyone,
Firstly it's great to be back , I've been away for nearly 5 months, firstly I had a trip to the east coast of Australia to see some friends, especially one who was terminal, it was nice to finally meet her and to say goodbye,
It was quite sad as there was children involved but fortunately my friend has a large family so the kids will be well looked after. Then I spent some time in Sydney and caught up with 2 other friends that used to live here in Perth, so it was great catching up with them too. When I arrived back in Perth I was asked to housesit for 8 weeks whilst friends went overseas for work and of course I obliged as we had a stinking HOT summer here and they have a pool so it was great, the only bummer was there was no
pc in the house as their lappies went with them. Other friends who lived nearby have an old pc but it was slow, needs at least another gig of ram
and a newer video card as some games from cds I tried wouldn't work so I
just settled for the pool, relaxation , dvd's and decision making of what and where I'm going to do with the rest of my life. A fantastic offer became available for me , a little unit in a small town in the wheatbelt here in Western Oz, it's only about 2 hours from Perth city, but it's just so peaceful and quiet there, the population is around 1000 I think but half of those are out on farms growing wheat, my unit is the quiet end of town, it's a 1 bedroom place which is in a squareshape if you get my drift as you can walk around in it by going through every room , the lounge and bedroom are quite big, the ensuite / laundry thru the 2nd door from the bedroom is quite roomy too with a huge shower, then you go thru into the kitchen and dining area which is also big enough for me. As my spine continues to degenerate I have to look ahead and think how I can make my life easier now ( cleaning wise and noise etc... ) so this place is absolutely perfect. Even on the weekend you could hear a pin drop on the other side of town LOL , the main street and shopping centre is about a 10 minute walk and is flat so I'll be able to walk there and back everyday or second, the hospital has a physio dept' my pain specialist will contact and organise some routine there that will be benificial for me, hopefully that includes the heated pool :D As my back gets worse there are services there like house cleaning, being driven to appt's or down to Perth, even meals on wheels LOL Shit , they'll be breathing for me soon hehe...The other positives that made me immediately say YES is that the rent is only 85 bux a week, plus I'll get 53 bux a fortnight rent assistance as I'm on the disability pension, I don't have to pay for water I use, the lawns and gardens are mowed and maintained every 3 weeks for me and that is also free, out the back of the unit is a communal area ( 8 units all up, 4 on each side and 2 different streets ) where there's a huge BBQ, a vege garden any of us can plant whatever we want ( evil grin ) a couple of clotheslines, nice big lawn area and at the other end is a huge covered gazebo so if you want a chat with another tenant you can go there and have a cuppa or triple scotch ;) Sit there with visitors, or even just go and relax or do some reading, whatever??? Another thing that appealed to me is that there's a nice covered veranda at the front of my unit with a couple of bushes along the front, table and chairs out there for drinks and smokes, the day I got the keys I sat there for an hour and in that time only 1 car went past slowly and the view from there, the loungeroom and my bedroom windows is just big trees as there's a natural bush reserve right over the road :D After living for the last 4 and a half years in Government housing with scum, anti social behaviour, druggies ( full on ) raving alchies that start as soon as they wake up and continuously bang on your door for a lift to the shops or smokes or money etc.... just does my head in, plus the TRG have done successful raids there, cars get smashed and / or stolen, people have nodded off in their units and left things cooking so fires have started, bricks and fire hydrants get thrown thru windows or at cars, music is played full pelt 24 / 7 which booms into everyone elses units and there is a very busy intersection next to us where ALL the trucks that go back and forth to the harbour use that route so all day and night there's trucks taking off at the lights which is a slight upward hill so you can imagine the noise, especially if I have my balcony door open, it's stereo if I have the front door open too but because people there automatically think that's an invitation to come and knock on your door I never have it open, if I do it's usually around 5 or 6am to get a blast of wind thru as the scum are passing out by then and the trucks haven't started peak hours yet, imagine during the day when there's 9 lined up my side of the lights and 6 on the other side heading down the hill it's enough to send anyone completely crackers, so I think I'm getting out just in time as also now I've developed a loud tinnitus in my left ear which is enough to send you off your head anyway without all the other crap, maybe the trucks have caused it ? Or it could be nerve compression in the cervix area of my spine? Or even a brain tumour Dr Google told me LOL So moving to this beautiful little deadly quiet town is just what the Dr ordered, I still can't believe it's happening really, like it fell into my lap, Mum and I delivered a lappy to a friend of hers a couple of weeks ago and as she showed us around I said to her - Gee this place is great, I'd love to live here, listen to the silence :D Well 3 days later she skyped us here ( I'm at Mum's atm ) and said there's a unit become available, the owners ( company ) said if you bring the bond and 2 weeks rent up tomorrow it's yours?????
I was numb for days, still am really, feels like it was meant to be :D
And to save the BEST news for last, First trip up, the early evening we went into the main hotel area to get the motel roomkey there was only about 15 people in there, mainly youngens in their late teens or early 20's,
it's a huge sitting area down where the lounges and jukebox is and further up towards where the bar is guess what I immediately noticed backed up
onto the main wall????? YES , an actual REAL Pinball machine :) I could not believe my eyes :D I virtually ran over to it and it looks brand new but it's not as it's the CUE BALL WIZARD table :D Now I've only ever played that from my Microsoft Pinball Arcade CD so was very surprised to see how deep the table is, and that famous RAMP on the right LOL
I tell you, whatwith the new quiet living abode and a real pinny in the pub I feel like I've died and gone to Heavan LOL Isn't that awesome :)
Anyhoo, that's all my latest news, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year and a Happy easter this weekend, once I'm settled into the new place I'm going to put all my VP8 tables onto a terrabyte and then start learning all about the VP9 tables as they look awesome, I tried with the first version of it ages ago and downloaded a couple of tables but only 1 would work, I think it was called Rollercoaster? By JP anyway, then the next time I went to play it, nothing , it said something was missing??? Can't remember now, but I do remember I tried again one night and only that table worked once again? SO it'll be head down bum up once I'm moved in , don't be surprised if I ask stupid questions when I'm at the learning stages, I saw JP's reply and the link for the new VP9 version 9.7
so I've downloaded that here on Mum's spare pc so might even try one table after this? I gather I just install the latest Visual install pack and use the VP9 exe only? ( I've make a new folder for it ) The tables look
absolutely awesome, especially some of the older ones :D I've had VP8 here on Mum's pc for ages with heaps of tables but not even a smidge as to what I have at home on my pc... So to keep VP8 tables on a terrabyte is a good idea I think, also incase the pc shits itself or blows up or gets swine flu or some flesh eating virus LOL I'm actually thinking of getting a
new pc when I move in, just to be up to date and have the newest of everything, but I'm so used to XP I'm not sure I like Windows 7 ?
Anyway I have to get up now for a while as my back's screaming from sitting here this long, Just thought I'd say Gidday, tell you my fantastic news and to hope everyone's ok , happy and healthy :D

I'll be intouch when I'm moved in which will hopefully be over the next 2 - 3 weeks :joy:

Catch y'all later,

Matt :)

good lord! hell of a paragraph, but um... welcome back!! Glad you like the new and improved VP9! most of my originals are now built in that, and for more pins also check out vpforums.org that site is a little over 1 year old and has many members and pins too. Not that I'm knocking this site as this one has tons of cool pins, slots, pachinkos, and other pinball related stuff, but there are many pinheads (our nickname we call ourselves now) there who unfortunately don't migrate over to here, so it's best to visit both sites to keep yer 'hand in the till' so to speak but feel free to visit often and any problems you have just post and we'll be more than glad to help ya'!

oh by the way vp8 and vp9 tables are not interchangeable meaning ones made with vp8 do not work all the time on vp9 and vice versa. the ball size for vp8 is around 35 pixels while in vp9 it's around 50! this makes vp9 tables played in vp8 to cause the ball to get stuck underramps, plastics and missing kicker holes and such. so just make sure you keep the two programs (and their respective tables) in separate folders and you'll do fine.
