MERRY CHRISTMAS...

...and all of you

MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone.

Merry Xmas, all.

As a person who lives alone, I'm usually just looking at other folks' lights & decorations, and getting a good feeling just from that. And the snow of course. But I think next year I'll get myself a lit ceramic tree, like my family used to have in the living room window. Very easy to set up, very charming in the dark, very... Christmassy.

Anybody here have a favorite decoration?
(I love the bubbler-lights, too)

Merry Xmas to all, and hope you have a flippin' good 2022

Ike,

I may do the same thing. My mother has TWO of those classic ceramic trees from the 60's and they are priceless. Yes, they are very nice to see when they are all lit up!

The house closes on the 14th of January so I can start moving stuff into it the 15th. It's going to be a NICE birthday for me this year and I really look forward to cooking some amazing meals in a REAL kitchen. ;)

Have an amazing holiday. Sorry I haven't been around as I'm dealing with various things happening all at once with 4 attorneys and lawyers! I've been so busy with the closing of the house, suing my slum landlord and dealing with other stuff so I've not been working on VPX too much. Kind of sad but I hope to get back into it asap.

PS: Did I tell you the house is only ONE FLOOR? No basement, no upstairs. 800 sq. feet on one level. I'm loving the day I get to move in and start fixing it all up.

The most sentimental "decoration" was my father getting the fireplace all warm, toasty and stoked up when we all sat around as a family around that roaring fireplace. I plan on adding a fireplace to my new house sometime this year but have to deal with all the siding work first as that's a top priority.

One thing I just remembered were the ornaments from Germany my mother had; they were made of wood and painted with glitter on them as well. They were kind of nice and it's a fond memory of the past. Surprised I even remembered it!

I remember a Christmas tree light we used to have that looked like Santa. It was really old so I would unscrew it enough to turn it off except when exchanging gifts or other special times. It never burned out but don't know were it is now. It was the style that each bulb had 110 v (after the bulbs that sere connected in series but before miniature lights).

I do like the bubbler lights also. The only ones we had were on strings connected in series so if one light goes out, the whole string goes out.

A roaring fire and custom lights for sure!

So fascinating just to stare at a fire for minutes at a time. Like an instant meditation.

Also, I remember another one-- cats and the Christmas tree. Because every year, they were delighted to see us set up an elaborate new cat bed for them, and would quickly settle in. Fortunately, neither of them were climbers, which looks to me like a great way to ruin various things, or even to start a house fire. :ghost:

ALL our cats were climbers but never knocked down the tree. It was almost like they were saying "thanks for the distraction but we won't ruin the holiday with our antics". It's almost like they wanted to have fun as much as we did as kids. Those were the days since we had four cats and five dogs but it seemed every cat and dog was there with the family. They all KNEW they were family and we wanted them to be there with us to share the holiday. ALL of our furry friends just wanted to be with us and we were all in one room for hours. I now have tears forming and boy do I miss those days. What a cute kitty picture you posted Nic. Cats always make me feel good even in pictures.
