On behalf of the staff here at Pinball Nirvana, I wish everyone a merry, merry Christmas, and I hope Santa leaves a pinball related present under the tree for everyone.
This year for real life has been touched by sadness, the loss of a couple long time friends to our community, the problems within the world, and the realization that no matter what, life has been a struggle the last couple years no matter how much we would want otherwise. Still, today is also the day we look on the past year and marvel at the good things and the progress we have all made. For pinball, and FP in particular, it's been one hell of a great year.
For PN, it's been quite a struggle keeping up with the renewed success of the site, but has been very rewarding for us as well watching the various communities here thrive. Becoming the center hub for FP/BAM has really given us a purpose and it's been a joy watching and helping out in being a part of what I feel has been the best year in FP history. So many things came out in 2021, from vastly improved physics and lighting effects, to just amazing games that set the bar for our future growth.
The best thing though was finally, people realized that FP with BAM was a very viable editor, and was now more than capable of having games that played just as good as tables from other editors. As much as some people from the other community may not want to admit it, after 15 years, we finally caught up in some areas, and in fact now have exceeded in a few things. VP made us competitive, it set a standard in game play for which we here all wanted to achieve, it made us better, and I hope the coming year is the true golden era for both editors, that we all continue to improve ourselves, and to enjoy advancing the art of "the game".
You couldn't ask for a better year than that in computer based virtual pinball. Still, it's now time to think of the future, the next coming year, and what we all would like to have for FP or VP in the coming year.
I believe in christmas miracles, so from me, my wish is that who ever owns the fp code, to release the source and make it public domain, so we can finally make FP the truly great editor it deserves to be.
Merry Christmas everyone.
