Maybe it's something I have never had the genetics to grow, still when I have let it grow I was once told..

Why try to cultivate it on your face, when it grows wild around your ass.

My as usual witty and somewhat unacceptable reply was well it's growing wild on my face also...

Though enough of my perils of wisdom, another that may amuse you with perhaps greater wit then even mine and he can he grow moustache or is that merely a play on words, wisdom or the damn truth?

phew... for a minute there, i thought you were going to reply about transplanting the hair from hither to yon! (if you catch my drift)

anyway, i can certainly get behind that guy's point. i gave up my car decades ago, and have logged lots of time since on bike and public transportation. even on skateboard, for a few years. i was naively optimistic that there'd be more people like me, but alas. cars ahoy.

my problem now in these years of failing health is that i really -could- use a car to accomplish basic stuff, like getting over to trader joe's or situations in which i have a fair amount to carry. of the two best friends i have in the area, one doesn't have a car and one is insanely busy. d'oh.

No problems Ike, really I know how a car can be an asset to life, I owned and ran with a cheap to own economical, reliable, second-hand 4cylinder hatchback for many a year. Though why the massive mini trucks, one driver, maybe a passenger, one per family member, it's just insane...even here in what used to be an out of the cities coastal holiday town, it's just getting more then a bit stupid.

It's becoming a serious life risk when I assert my right of way over these have to pass get in front to perhaps save 5 seconds, when more often then not I have to pass them on my bicycle a little ways later. I really have to stare them in the eye when traversing roundabouts or intersections to assert my right of way, you think you can save 5 seconds by running me down?

All the time said vehicle has single passenger, if that and mostly going nowhere in a hurry looking for that elusive parking spot that will save them walking more then 50 feet to their supposed destination.

Also there is a Primary School near where I work, glad I have to start hours before the school opens, it just stupid watching all these mini trucks bumper to bumper delivering their one child to school, really?

In my day you rode or walked or those that did have cars had a roster with their neighbours, one driver, one car, once a week you drove all the children from your neighbourhood to school.
