Decided to post a topic on this here as been having a "discussion" thread on another site, where some really think LED is great.
The idea of VP to me is to keep the emulations of the tables as to their factory releases, not to customize the table to how someone might like.

As long as the original table emulations are still available anyone can do what they wish as far as mods, and im sure a vast amount of work goes into them.

However i foresee in the future where all we have is modded tables and the history/actual factory table graphics/info is eventually lost.

i agree Rabid...:iagree:
i'm not really interested in fancy mods either.
we seem to have the same direction for this.
i have been here since 2009 when VP9 was the hot new engine replacing VP8.
VP9 could be rotated for FS(full screen) for a more real simulated PB experience with a decent PC with HDMI to a flat screen TV
on its side for the FS view.
i played real PB....i thought it was really good.
i have been asking the forum for a long time for someone here in the forum or find someone that knows
how to read the MS C++ program, fine tune it and improve the physics.
the program updates are getting better but it still needs some tweeking in the C++ program.
now the forum is not talking to me anymore because we don't agree.
the original developers of this back in 2000 are gone, moved on or i dunno where they are.
maybe you could look for someone that knows how to read the program.
i have been looking for a long time for someone to do this....can't find anybody that knows the C++
program or not interested.
the program has come far but still need some physics improvements.

I can't imagine seeing such and suspect we will all be pushing up daisies well before that ever eventuates.

That said I feel these reskined tables are somewhat a waste of talent. They could be so much greater if they went the extra few yards and created an original layout and rules for their creations.

I am surprised this is even an issue
As a physical pinball owner, I want my LEDs to look as close as possible to an incandescent.
I will choose a 'warm white' LED as that more closely look like an incandescent
I will buy more expensive bulbs, there are even LEDs that look like they have a filament
I will add another circuit board to the backbox to make the LEDs act more like incandescent

Pete, i think this is about wasted time on mods keeping the tables time era original.
the updates are ok, oth, we should be paying more attention improving the C++ physics.
i think the thread would be better named "stop wasting time on mods."
i have made suggestions what needs help but nobody is listening.
if the forum wants this to go somewhere they need to listen to the ones that played real PB.

But the VP community is VERY different to the physical pinball community
There has always been people who modify recreations, there are people out there who modify real games
The world is big enough to cater for both (Stock lovers and modifying morons ;) )
You do not like something, then don't play it

I am not a fan of games from the woodrail era, I appreciate them, I love the artwork, but I do not want to own one

that could be the problem.....the VP forum world is not listening to the real PB players.
the only thing i have complained about is the bug in the lower slings shooting the ball into the side drain.
some tables are better than others.
a lot of the updates and the allinone installer was a good improvement.
the program has come far over the last 15yrs i have been around.
if the forum would have spent time on trying to fix the bug in the C++ program it would have been behind us a long time ago.
other than that i think the program is really good for simulated PB on a full size flatcreen.

Why should they?
Like I said, the real world and virtual world of pinball attracts different people
While many people start with VP (or FP) as their fist pinball experience, very few people are going to go from owning a few machines to only owning a VP setup, no matter how many screens, no matter how much force feedback, the refresh rate, there is

There is a difference between how a ball behaves on a real game vs a recreation

Maybe im judging from some of IMO atrocious screenshots i see of VPX versions.
For me personally i will always prefer a virtual table to look as it did when it came out of the factory, the only
exception i make for virtual is i like the fullDMDs for my cabinet.

I can say from owning one or two real tables in the past that VPX physics nowadays are almost spot on.
I only ever took a liking to the virtual pinball scene in the early 2000s , due to the fact it was about emulating real tables.

Pinball FX is fun and they create some good ones, but the physics grinds with me a bit.
Digressing a bit in this comment from my OP

I only meant Pop Bumper Petes last quote , i cant figure out how to remove quotes.
I just thought LEDS had to be mega bright, as thats the impression i get from VPX mods.
Thanks for sharing this info.

>>>>cant figure out how to remove quotes.>>>>>put the blinking curser at the end of the paragraph you want to delete then hold down
the backspace key to erase....look for the setting in "keyboard" or "typing" to make sure the backspace erase is at max speed...if not it will take a long time to erase the long messages.

sorry pete i don't agree.
the program needs to be true to IRL pinball.
not what the forum thinks it should be and rely on input from the IRL PB players for feel of real PB..

Why?
The last thing any community needs is people telling others that they must obey our rules and regulations
What is next? No recreations of woodrail games? (because nobody likes them)
No custom tables? (If it does not exist in real life, then it should not exist)

(please post a link to this other sites topic)

?????????????what r u talking about?????
you are missing the point.
this is about keeping the VP program to play as close as possible to any real table or original table out of the DL...
if people want to change it, fine.
