Williams PIN·BOT (Williams, 1986) Bumpers dead

i need help with my Pinbot plzzzzzz. had lower pop bumper not working - coil was burnt - got new one and replaced - now no bumpers are working. all 3 pop bumpers are dead and both jet bumpers are now not working. i don't see any fuses blown. any ideas on what i should check???? or what might have happened?? update - found blown fuse - back to where i started. - replaced fuse and disconnected new coil i soldered in before powering back on. now back where i started. could it be a short somewhere or bad ground? discovered that it keeps blowing 2.5 amp s.b. fuse on power board as soon as i reattach red/wh. wire to coil and machine is powered on. is only lower jet bumper that causes this. new rottendog cpu/ driver board was just installed. after fuse is blown i can disconnect red/wh. wire from lower jet bumper and all other bumpers work until i touch red/wh. wire to coil lug and it sparks and blows fuse on power board and all bumpers are then dead. slingshots too. any ideas . appreciate any help. thks. phil.

lower jet bumper problem. power wire that goes to that coil is colored blu-brn. coil # is ae-23-800-03 . the blu-brn wire goes to cpu board jack j19-7, lower left connector 1 up from the bottom connector ,it should be marked. blu-brn wire should be 7th pin up on the connector,the 5th pin should be blank. Q75 is the coil driver transistor for that jet bumper. part # for it is TIP122 square with metal tab. it should be just to the right of the jack j19. when coils burn they short out this type of transistor, and keep the coil energized. sometimes the pre-driver transistor Q74 gets burned up too but not always. Q74 part# 2n4401 should be just under Q75. with machine turned off , unplug all cpu jacks and unmount cpu board. unsolder Q75 from bottom side of board and replace Q75 with new TIP122 installing with metal tab in same direction as bad one came out. if you have a test meter check Q74 for shorts or opens. reinstall cpu board, plug in connectors, solder wire on jet bumper and check operation.

Pin_Bot Pop Bumpers

The plastic push rods that work the switches on my Pin_Bot machine Pop Bumpers have become a bit flexible and wobbly . This makes adjusting the switches damn finicky. I became aware of this when the lower pop bumper coil became stuck and overheated. At first I was sure the driving transistor had shorted. I don't know if this applies to your situation but I thought I'd Pass it along.

Contact Jim at Rottendog. Sounds like something went a wrong on the board.

thx for reply Sean, but it seems that there was a problem withthat jet bumper when i got machine before i put in new Rot. board. when i got machine the coil was burnt and red/white wire going to bumper was disconnected. i replaced coil and resoldered wire to coil. already had put in new mpu. as soon as power goes to machine, the 2.5 amp s.b. fuse on power board blows and all bumpers are dead. the lower jet bumper never activates. just fuse blows right away. i still have no idea whatis causing this.
