I think "fair use" means to use the trademark properties as a satire or commentary about the property or as a reference to other topics, as a talkabout, certainly not as a product which represents the properties directly, or which might be construed as "an Official Product" without licensing to the rightful owners.

But hey. Fox doesn't own the rights to that property anyhow. The creator does. And Ditto for Alien..

Back when he was The Governator, I corresponded with and received several very nice e-mail replies from Mr. Schwarzeneggar on various topics. But we weren't discussing the Predator property...

yeah that's pretty much my understanding as well.

he contacted them for permission, they replied with specifics on fair use for predator, he somehow interpreted it as full licensing rights, took a bunch of investor money apparently, got a bunch of ppl rightfully pissed off at him, his family is suffering because of it, and now he offers up this craptacular defense of his honest intent.

i guess his talent lies in design and he was hoping the whole legal and economic side would just roll over for him or something.

The Fox Licensing page is nowhere in sight, unless it is part of the FOX Network site.
But this is the FAQ page for licensing Universal clips and stills.
I am considering a Furious 7 license for my next VP project. I can buy this online at the Universal site, but haven't a clue about FOX.
And there may be additional steps with physical merchandise, such as final studio approval, etc. Be very afraid...

I wonder if they need a Fart Foley? If "Yes", then I'm their Man! Expert.
