I recently replaced the 5101 RAM chip in my Solar Ride. It worked great for two weeks and now is back to pre-repair behavior - not remembering more than one credit, no high scores.
Does it makes sense for this chip to fail under normal duty? If so, can I use one of the modern adapters that lets me use a RAMTRON NVRAM instead? I haven't yet found positive confirmation that these devices will work with my System 1 MPU.
If I can't use one of these devices, what precautions can I take on the MPU board to prevent my last 5101 from being fried?
