Williams Star Trek TNG (Williams, 1993) cheater posts/bumpers

I have a Star Trek TNG machine which is the bomb. However, I think that the game would be more enjoyable if the ball didn't drain down the sides so often. I have heard that there are 'cheater' posts that can be installed that prevent so much ball drainage.

Can anybody comment as to where I could find such posts/bumpers ? Or has anybody had any first hand experience with these posts/bumpers and how they effect game play ?

first, get a squad in there to defuse that bomb!

second, aren't there alternate post-holes drilled in your machine so that you can shift the existing posts yourself?

third, there should be plenty of googleable vendors that sell extra-large post bumpers for the easiest adjustment, although i'm thinking that if you remove one post and take it to your local hardware store you should be able to fit some kind of inexpensive but perfectly-workable rubber washer on there. not pipe-washers, obviously, but there are other, fatter kinds...

fourth, i haven't had a machine for a long time... but maybe others here can answer more specifically! :)

Star Trek The Next Generation Outlane Solutions

Yes the machine drains a bit to easily for my taste to. Good news is there is a option to turn the left outlane ball kicker on all the time. It is ether "Set Game To Extra Easy" or it may have it's own "always on" option. I would have to cycle through the menus to be sure about that second option. As for the right side, yes the are some adjustments for the upper post. Bad news is it is not easy to get the thing un -threaded. I have been to lazy to remove the ramps and plastics to accomplish this worthwhile task. At one point I had added a rubber ring to the lower rail that separates the right inlane from the outlane. That did not improve game play at all so I took it out.

I think what you may have read is that we do this to the VP pins all the time
we add walls or posts to 'cheat' so the ball does not drain as quick
to do that to a real pin would be a bad thing
since you may have to actually drill out some holes for the posts

and actually in my real Flash pin (williams)
there ARE other holes along the sides of the outrails
for the post placement to be in closer to keep the ball from draining
try looking closely at the out lanes for these holes in yours

doh, play with the glass off and just reach in there and grab the ball and throw it back on the table. :)
