Gottlieb Super Soccer (Gottlieb, 1975) Specials

Does anyone else have a problem with the way the specials work on Super Soccer? I love this game except for the way the specials light up and then go off, it seems, as soon as you hit anything on the playfield, is this normal? If so has anyone ever thought of a way to change it so they stay lit long enough for a chance to hit the special target? Is this even possible?

Any thoughts?

does the special have a jack adjustment? can you post a pic of the schematics light section to tell when the special should come on?
