I have the rom, but when I hit 4,5,or 6 for adding coins, I hear the coins dropping in but no credits show up, so I can't start a game! Does anyone know of this problem? can anyone help me with this?

You're missing the fitting NVRAM. I don't have it right now, but somebody else might attach it here. Edit: done.

Faralos, your knowledge of the setup and what files you need is obviously limited, youre missing VBScripts, NVRAMs, did you ever consider simply using the VIP which installs everything you need automatically?

If i were you i would at least try it, youd be doing yourself a favour because you wont have to ask questions and others because they dont have to answer them for the tenthousandth time.

Just go ahead, it doesnt bite!

Do yourself that favor: a clean install to get rid of all your problems about playing tables!

P.S. You could concentrate more on your WIPs!:scratchchin::wave:

Erm, yeah, that would work too. I keep forgetting about the VIP since my last installation with it was so long ago... I prefer fuddling all the things together, it's just more fun that way... but you would profit from using the VIP.

Ok, I'm a first time poster here. I've been lurking and playing vpinmame for about 2 years now. I originally installed everything manually, including the vbscripts, the nvrams, etc. . When that didn't work for this game, I installed Phoenixx's VIP (then upgraded the vpinmame to 2.1 from 2.01) plus JP's nvram and I still can't get it to work. I'm running Vista and all I'm still getting is the coin sounds but no credits. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I apologize if this is just a stupid noob question, but I don't know what else to try.

so what and where is VIP? I'll ignore those snide cracks made against me by insensitive people, I HAVE vp8 and all my other tables work just fine. you're right I DON'T know about nvrams or vbscripts. as vp8 comes with whatever i need (except for Roms) already installed, so if I need to install and figure out vpmame ( I have it on my desktop, just don't know what the hell it actually does) just for ONE pin, then forget it. I guess I'll just what was that crack, oh yeah, concentrate more on my wip's! so thanks for not only not answering my question, but insulting me in the process.
Y'know, not all of us are programmers who automatically know exactly what is needed for every table out there.
(so to borrow a famous quote; WELL EXC-U-U-SE ME!)

look Phoenix, I don't know what all crawled up inside yer ass, but when I d/load a table, how in hell am I supposed to know what all it needs if no mention of it is ever made? I d/load that pin, it didn't work, that is it. I didn't think I'd get my ass reamed for posting what I thought was a good question. Ok, I won't ask what is VIP, since you didn't mention what it is, I'll just go how did you put it? oh yeah, concentrate on my wip's instead, pardon me for posting a question here. I HAVE a clean install of VP8! I didn't think I'd need anything else, no matter, I'll post that question on vpforums.org, where at least my posts get some respect. Thanks for not only ignoring my plea for help, but insulting me in the process, BTW who died and made YOU queen? There how do you like it? doesn't feel so good does it? ok now that that's out of the way, so what and where is VIP? and no, I am NOT asking you, I know better now, anyone ELSE?
oh and it should have worked with vp8 as the file says it should...

This is how you thank me for trying to help? For giving you a well meant tip as to how you can save yourself a lot of trouble?

Alright, in that case just fuck off and get your help elsewhere. I for one will never ever ever try to help you with anything again, that much you can be sure of,...

Since the VIP already includes all misc files (which also includes all Bally and Gottlieb NVRAMs too) i can only think of one thing and thats the paths.

Maybe they are still set to one of your old folders from your first try? To check run the VPM Setup from your startmenu and go to 'Setup Paths'. When the window opens press 'Reset' and all the paths should set themselves to your 'Pinball' folder. Then try to run the table again, perhaps that will already solve it. If not post again and we can look for other possible causes.

(BTW, you didnt overwrite the existing NVRAM for that table with another one, did you?)

I double-checked the paths and they were all correct. Just to make sure I reset them. No luck. I've tried running the table with both the original teedoff.nv NVRAM and the teedoff3.nv NVRAM from JP with the same results. One weird thing, though, is if I test Teed Off (rev. 3) in the Vpinmame Setup it shows 5 credits and Replay at 80,000,000 and high scores, but if I run the game it shows no replay or any high scores in the DMD.

If VPM shows credits and hiscores in testmode but not in the game then there must be two different NVRAMs. Otherwise it would be the same in both cases.

Anyway, i think the best thing you can do in this situation is simply configuring the table yourself via the regular operators menu. This works as follows:

1.) Boot table, when display shows all zeroes press 7. This will open the Ops Menu.

2.) Keep pressing the Left Flipper until the cursor highlights the 'Game Adjustments' item. (Be quick or the ROM goes into TestMode.) Press Right Flipper to enter Game Adjustments, then press 1 (Credit Button) to load the Factory Settings.

3.) Finally press F3 to reboot the ROM and youre set. Use 3, 4 or 5 to add Credits, 1 to start a game.

If you want to go beyond the factory defaults and change other things like Balls Per Play, (or whatever), familiarize yourself with the menu and eventually youll get the hang of it. The display always tells you what options you have so its not that complicated. Just remember that 'Test' is 7 and 'Credit Button' is 1. Left and Right Flipper is self explanatory,...

Ok Phoenixx I finally got this issue figured out. :) It turned out to be a Vista thing. When I tried the solution you suggested and it didn't change anything, I looked again into my NVRAM folder in Windows Explorer and noticed that the NVRAM hadn't been accessed. Then I noticed the Compatibilty Files folder at the top of Explorer and clicked on that and found that there was another teedoff3 NVRAM hidden in Vista's VirtualStore. (If you're running Vista you'll know what I'm talking about.) I deleted that NVRAM and I was good to go. Thanks for all of your help.

Well phoenix i can't see how you got that post, I'd thought I had deleted that one as it was kind of rough, but no help at all? well since you had insulted me first, it's not my fault that i got all riled up. what did you expect? oh well, I tried to erase it seeing as how it wasn't you that had posted that insult to me, but apparenlty it went up here anyhow. sorry about that, won't happen again... and a big apology to anyone else who read that, I normally don't rant like that, but I was so frustrated at this one pin not working, and you are right, I DON'T know that much about vpm and nvrams and vbs files...

Am I missing something? I don't see the insult here. Phoenixx stated that your knowledge was limited. You admit that it is. Because of that, he recommended trying the VIP. I don't believe Phoenixx meant it as an insult, seems to me he was genuinely trying to help.

the insult wasn't from him, that's what I was trying to explain. Someone else had posted something...anyhow, what is the VIP? I ran a search for it on here but came up empty. Do you mean the vp program? i tried a new install with that, but it(just the teed off table) still won't run. and I d/loaded VPmame, but am unsure how to use that. does that go into the vp folder, or is it a stand-alone? and my vp folder doesn't contain any nvram folder or anything like that. Is it supposed to?

VIP is the Visual Install Pack, an all-in-one installer for VP and VPM created by Phoenixx. Look front and center on the home page here, you can't miss it.

Not sure if you missed my earlier reply or if it was unclear... People often have trouble getting VP (Visual Pinball) and VPM (Visual PinMame) to work properly together. To help alleviate that problem, Phoenixx created the VIP (Visual Install Pack) which installs both programs together and by doing so solves most of the pitfalls people run into when trying to integrate the two programs.

oh ok thanks, I went right by it! sorry, will try it soon as I'm off here. thanks (sheepish grin here)
Phoenix I do mean it when i said I'm sorry, you have every right to be ticked off, though, I mistook another persons post for yours, and did try to erase that post, I tend not to read correctly who sends what...

    @xenonph, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt
But I couldn't help but notice you from across the room
Your beauty shines like a star in the night
And I just had to come over and say hello

Excuse me, but I couldn't resist
Your smile is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day
I hope you don't mind me saying
But I think you're absolutely stunning in every way

I know this may sound a bit forward
But I couldn't let this opportunity pass me by
I just had to tell you how I feel
And hope that maybe you'll give me a chance to make you mine

Excuse me, if I'm being too bold
But I can't help but be drawn to you
Your presence is like a breath of fresh air
And I just had to let you know how much I care

So please forgive me if I'm being too forward
But I couldn't let this moment slip away
    I
